Nate Stanley

One thing appears apparent. Nate is more like Peyton Manning and Tom Brady in terms of putting the the work needed to be better. film study, conditioning, eat, sleep, not out screwing around, etc. Has same level of seriousness as great ones typically do.

Fant is so highly hyped for the pros because he will thrive in the pros at running the seam and being a redzone target. All the things NFL teams covet dearly. He is a Gronk Graham type athletically with speed to outrun safeties. He will be an outstanding professional football player barring injury. Pro teams wont ask him to block that much inline. He will be a slot TE like Gronk and work the seams and create mismatches in the redzone. If he gets drafted to a team with a talented QB like Graham and Gronk did the sky is the limit for him really.

Means absolutely nothing. Stanely is on the higher end of mediocre QBs Iowa has had in the Ferentz era.

Stares down receivers as if letting the defense know who he's going to pass to
Happy feet
Incredibly poor long ball

Stanley would not last in the NFL. If Tate or Stanzi couldn't, there's no way in hell Stanley could.
The only accurate statement that you made concerns Nate's feet. If you actually watch film on Nate ... you quickly see how often he looks off his WRs. In fact, he's baited DBs quite a bit this year already ... and that's helped open up things for the guys he's actually targeted.

Also, this year, Nate's long ball looks so much better that it did last year. Part of why the Hawks have had so much success with the TE passing game ... is because Nate is doing such a better job of throwing the longer ball to the TEs and WRs.

I get the feeling that Stanley is enjoying his college experience and will stay. When he's done pro teams will be lining up for his services.

I’d be a little surprised if Hockenson left... not because he isn’t capable, just seems like one of those 4-year Hawks.

I really think it could go either way in Hocks case.. But I’d be surprised if Fant stayed & Nate went. Hock might want to strike while the irons hot. Hock & Fant just seems like really good TE’s that drive each others stock up, I really look at them as a package deal. I know some may like to compare and contrast them against one another but them leaving together would suck for us but it wouldn’t shock me..

Nate strikes me as the type of kid that will play out his eligibility. However, I listen to the NFL SIRIUS station quite a bit and Nate has come up in several discussions. Interestingly, given the comparisons to Big Ben, Pittsburgh is supposedly one of the teams following Nate. The general opinion is he could be drafted cheap and spend one or two seasons learning. Not projected as an immediate starter.

Agree, Fant is going pro after this season. TJ will probably not stick around for his last season of eligibility either.

Glad he is the Iowa QB. Don't see him playing in the NFL at this point. Maybe if he continues to improve through next year. We'll see.

That all said, would be a good week to throw five touchdowns. C'mon good Nate--show up!

How much better would the current team be if we hadn't lost Jackson and Daniels early to the draft?

Irrelevant. If we want Iowa to be a big boy program, losing early entrees to the NFL draft is part of being big time.

Alabama, OSU, etc., lose MANY more players than we do to early draft departures.

Next man in.

I concur with those who believe that Nate has the raw tools ... but I also think that Nate has a long ways to go yet in terms of refinement of those tools. While Nate is clearly a sharp guy ... I think that he still gets caught "thinking too much." Consequently, he still can be late on some recognitions and passes ... and that leads to missed opportunities.

I think that Nate recognizes that ... and will stick around for his SR year ... not only to further his education (because that is also something that he cares about) ... but also to further refine his craft. I expect that we end up seeing an ever better and more efficient Nate in 2019 ... and the rest of the B1G will have its hands full as a result!

Nate has all the tools of an NFL QB but he cant make the mistakes he has made recently in the NFL and expect to start. In order to be a starting QB in the NFL he needs to come back and work on playing mistake free football and using his WRs more to stretch the field on the edges like pro QBs do. He does those things and gets drafted into the right system next year he could end up being a starting NFL QB but odds are he will have a long pro career as a solid backup

Noah is gone. Nate and TJ return. This is what will happen. I’d bet my dog on it.

and I would think that is a safe bet. But I think nate will have a decision to make. I am pretty confident he will return but I think he gives it some serious thought. TJ will probably return and be the top TE prospect in next years draft.

Should have been up 21-7 with all the momentum. Because of NS we’re tied. PSU did everything they could tobhsnd us this one, with everything on the line and we crapped down our leg, at least initially.

Does Nate Stanley go pro early or does he stay for his senior season? I don't think there is any doubt he should stay for his senior season and clean up some of these unneeded turnovers he has had this season. But its a weak QB class this year and next years is loaded with talent so I wonder if he will leave early to get into a better position to be drafted higher.

I would take Weigers over Stanley. And possibly Boyle too. Okay to be fair he was injured today. But playing an injured QB was bad coaching

Nate is far from being ready for the NFL, not sure he ever will be.
