Article is about the Franken campaign and makes it sound futile. If the Dems give up on Iowa, it wont be a good thing for Iowa. Its losing young people, it can't fill the jobs it has, the small towns are shrinking.

Dems giving up on Iowa?

I'm a Dem but you cannot run Lurch or Pinnochio for a candidate. I am sure Admiral Franken is great....at naval shit but he's stiff as hell and cannot connect with voters.

In one of his ads, he exclaims, "I spoke truth to power." Dude that's great on the aircraft carrier but no one knows wtf you're saying unless they hung out at Annapolis.

Landslide L for chuckles. One can only hope the chuckster dies in office but then Reynolds gets to replace him...with an even bigger dbag. Not to mention Chuck's drinkin all them DQ blizzards, which are rich in calories, and jackin all those push ups.

It's about what's reasonable.

Iowa has truly become a DEEP Red State and the exodus of college grads proves it.

Mississippi North, baby.

What has Republican leadership gotten Iowa? A massive brain drain, a fall in the quality of the public school system, polluted waterways.

But hey, you pay less income tax if you are well off.
This seems like a fun game. What has democratic leadership gotten any blue haven?

How many times do you need to see gross overspending before you realize dems are great at coming up with ideas and atrocious at actually completing task?

Sure there is.

Campaign.
Run for school board.
Run for city government.

None of those will impact the problems in the state. Noble endeavors to be sure.

I kind of gave up too I must admit. I am giving money to the Nature Conservancy and groups that can get things done, like take farmland out of production.

Even a good candidate wouldn't have a chance there these days. I'm surprised a rural state like IA stayed purple as long as it did, it's true colors are showing finally. The brain drain is a huge problem that's not going away

Then leave.

I’m done with people like you bitching and doing nothing.
What he didn't do was vote for a traitorous con man twice, dipshit.

Well, you win some and you lose some. Basically, you're describing Pennsylvania, where D's are doing just fine.

When are you leaving?
You think it’s such a shithole.

Posting hundreds of tweets a day isn’t changing anything.
I think he’s just stuck. Reynolds is his enemy, Trump is his enemy. Guys obsessed with crap like that (out of their control) probably have a life burning to the ground in the background.

Because you got federal ARPA money. Also not doing anything to deal with the brain drain, improve the water situation or improve the schools. In fact the governor is intentionally trying to harm to school system.
Iowa has had a surplus well before that.

Answer: the largest economies in the country. We are home to the stock market. We give you movies, music, and tv shows. Without us, America would suck.
This might be the most Huey/Varner response one could possibly come up with. The socialist who thinks everyone should live a trouble free life with zero problems submits "movies and TV shows" as his response to what has been contributed.

Might want to take a look at where Texas falls on that eco omy rating list.

Also, hey Cainer.

Yeah, where would the deep red states get their welfare money from?
Are you familiar at all with California's current insurance dielimma? Any knowledge at all of how every American is paying more because if insurers had to actually charge the premium needed "no one could afford to live here" and carriers were told they could not take any more rate in California and operate there.

While the economic power of Wall Street and California are certainly undeniable, back to the original point, it's rather novel to suggest that those particular engines were somehow built by the left, and particularly strange and counterintuitive given that their populations are draining notwithstanding those engines.

Being the beneficiary of simple inertia is hardly much to be proud about, any more than it would be something to be proud about to be Donnie or Ivanka Trump. You certainly have other things to be proud about though.

We also get the federal government which includes the military. Good luck growing your crops without our constant handouts. Good luck cleaning up the border by yourselves. Face it. Without us leftists, your lives would suck.

You really do have something of a recency bias problem, don't you?

As to the military, remind me again where the silos are? Where NORAD is HQ'd? You might also want to check your geography as to the location of our largest military bases. Now don't get me wrong - naval ops are great, and I hear San Diego and Pearl are lovely this time of year -- but have never been shown to be particularly effective at gaining or holding inland territory.
