First one I have seen showing Uthoff in the first round. Released 4/18.

29. SAN ANTONIO SPURS

Jarrod Uthoff, SF, Iowa: A skilled forward who can shoot from the perimeter and rebound sounds like something the Spurs might be interested in, and Uthoff is exactly that. He averaged 18.9 points and 6.3 boards while shooting 40 percent from 3-point range this season. The more scouts see him, the more they tend to like him. His so-called upside might not be the same as some other younger prospects. But Uthoff definitely has the tools to play in the NBA.

Can't see Uthoff going in the first at all. I think in the 45-60 range is much more likely.

Agree. 1st round seems unlikely. Questions about ball handling and ability to play through contact will be among the issues that would drop him out of 1st round.

The Spurs would be a great place for Uthoff, because Pop loves guys who understand team basketball, play both ends of the court, and can shoot. Jarrod can play 3 or 4, depending on match ups, which will help him. I don't follow the draft enough to know where he will be selected, but I think he definitely has the tools to play in the NBA. It might take a year or two to work his way into a regular rotation.

If you have followed the Spurs roster you will see that Popovich favors foreign players. I think they are more fundamentally sound and must be low maintenance.

They can also be had later in the draft, and they are always picking late.

After watching Houston, Detroit and other losers in the playoffs/league, Woodbury would be a better center than many of the stiffs/brick throwers playing in the league. He can at least play good defense and make ft's. One center was 17% and 38% from the ft line the last 2 years and hardly ever scores a point.

It will be interesting to see how Uthoff does at the NBA Draft combine as he's a guy that could move himself into the 1st round if he does well.

I watched Uthoff get pushed all around by Nova, just imagine what NBA posts would do to him. He would get buried on defense and the center would catch the ball at the hoop every time. Uthoff needs a lot more lower body strength, and strength in general.

I hope this is a failed attempt at humor.

Uthoff will make an NBA roster next season. He is not an athletic freak, but solid in many facets- range (with a fairly quick release, especially in transition), handle, length & plays solid defense. His offensive game is not in the paint, rather, on the perimeter & in transition. Will not be asked to bang with DeAndre Jordan.

Please share whatever it is u r smoking.

What is so crack-headed about what he wrote? Making an NBA roster is more of a possibility than a certainty, but everything else is pretty accurate.

The poster said "....will make a roster." U need a picture drawn to understand why that's a crack-headed comment? He might get drafted, but making a roster is a pipe-dream.

So the NBA's focus on offense makes them more physical than playing B1G and Big East. You sound like you're saying the NBA is back in the late 80's and early 90's.

Ummmm. For some reason I'm thinking the quality of play as well as the physicality of the nba might be just a bit more than the BIG and big east. Nova pushed uthoff around like a little boy. It'll be worse in the pros.

NBA bodies at the 3 and 4 are going to be consistently bigger and stronger than what he faced at the college level. It's the best of college and the best of the rest of the world whittled down to the most elite players. That's simple common sense.
Just watch a few minutes of any of the many playoff games going on and you'll see plenty of contact without fouls being called. Players learn to play through contact and score, or they wouldn't last long.

Well said.

I think he has a pretty decent shot at making an NBA roster, He has nice skill set, In the NBA he will not be the primary focus of the opposing teams defensive game plan. He will likely be a bench player not playing against each teams elite players night in and night out. I like his odds of making a roster more than I liked Devyn's odds after he graduated.

Not meant to be humor at all. Have you watched any of these big duds that they foul because they can't make a ft to save their lives at the ends of halves/games and if they score at all its almost by accident. Woody couldn't be any worse than them when he is at his worst. They are pathetic and I don't know why they are in the league other than they are cheap.

The 'big duds' you are referring to are athletic freaks of nature. Sure, they can't shoot free throws, but if they catch the ball on the block they will score. Take Deondre Jordan for example, he is an awful ft shooter. But his athletic ability, rebounding, block shots, jumping, speed, strength, agility, dunking, passing, and footwork are light years ahead of Woody. Woody struggled dunking the ball in a wide open court with nobody guarding him. The 'big duds' you refer to usually dunk the ball over and through some of the strongest most gifted athletes in the world. I have nothing against Woody, I think he played hard, but he does not have the skill set to play in the NBA.

It's almost unbelievable how bad at basketball Dwight Howard is.

And I saw him body up Caleb Swanigan who is bigger and stronger than anyone on Villanova.

There's allot of euro guys in the NBA that are similar to Uthoff.

6'9 guys that can shoot from 3 fill roles in the NBA. This isn't 1995.

It actually won't.

You don't get pushed around behind the 3pt line.

On the other end he would generally be matched up with guys whow aren't scoring threats, of which there is allot.

The nba is not nearly as physical as you are making it out to be.

There's always allot of interest in guys that can keep the floor spread for the main players.

Actually Jordan is a surprisingly poor offensive player on anything but lobs and put backs. He has no real moves.

Obviously he's in a totally different universe than Woodbury athletically.

All this talk about JU's handles, dude is 6'9" and often times brought the ball up and took player 1 on 1 often. It's not elite by all means but for his position it is definitely above average....there is nothing in his skill set that will prevent him going 1st round BC his play was that of a 1st rounder this year, if Iowa doesn't fall off at the end we are talking major accolades at season end. If he doesn't go 1st round it's because of his age

The 2016 mock draft at http://www.nbadraft.net/2016mock_draft has a very different view. They have Uthoff going as the 59th pick to Sacramento. NBA teams do not covet seniors which is reflected in this mock draft. Only 6 seniors are listed in the first round and 12 in the second round with most of the those at the very end.
