Tournament is toast. I’ll be surprised if the conference tournaments even finish out.
I think one of the main difference is is that people don’t really give a shit about the NBA regular season and so it’s easier to cancel it.
so, what do we do?
everybody stay put and not travel anywhere for the next month or more?
Another difference is that they have what, seven or eight more months left for the NBA finals?
The NCAA has three or four weeks left. Could easily be finished without fans.

Probably. I would have still enjoyed watching tournament on tv, but wouldn’t have been close to a normal tournament. Anyway,

I will say... Trump finally addressing it & putting a ban on European travel for a month definitely helps the tournaments chances.
If you’re only using team personnel.. is it really that big of a risk?
The NBA also didn’t necessarily kill the season, they are simply saying we’re reassessing & planning our next move.
The tournament can finish in 3-4 weeks. Why not just run it like an AAU tournament & play all games in a small HS gym?
^^ yes I realize all of this is ridiculous and meaningless in the grand scheme of things but DAMN, March Madness is the best sporting event & when the Hawks have a good team it just make a it that much better. We could all use a distraction right now. This just really sucks. We may never see Luka play again

i would think that teams could travel by plane and play in empty arenas and be ok

And if one of the players (in the best physical conditioning of their lives) catches the virus, they'll survive it, just like every other virus.

What an absolutely pathetic display of mass hysteria.
When in reality its basically a little worse than the flu.
People have had it and recovered already.
this is what I am picturing:
* player stays at home, for most part (courses at UI are online now, after all)
* player goes directly to practice at CHA
* player heads to airport, w/ no contact w/ public
* at tourney site, player is at hotel and at arena and no where else
Can't wait till we have the technology like they have in the movies. Where we can use an avatar and never leave our house!
