NC State & Oregon have stolen 2 NCAA Tournament bids

According to Joe Lunardi/ESPN:

NC State was considered the 8th team out; they beat UNC for the ACC Tournament Championship

Oregon was considered the 7th team out; they beat Colorado for the PAC12 Tournament Championship

Teams like New Mexico, St Johns, Oklahoma and Virginia (considered the last 4 in) are probably very nervous.

Heading into the ACC Tournament, NC State had lost 4 in a row and 7 of 9. Their record was 17-14.

Even before the start of the ACC Championship game (their 5th game in 5 days) they were considered by ESPN as the 8th team OUT of the NCAA Tournament.

Those bastards have now won 9 straight and are 2 wins from a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP!

Their record has gone from 17-14 to 26-14.

This is what is great about college basketball vs. football. A team can improve over the course of the season and really control their own destiny until they lose in the conference or national tournament.

NC State's roster is mostly made up of players that have transferred in the last one or two years. None of them are big NIL guys or anything, mostly players that either wanted to play at home or get more playing time than where they came from. It took all season for this team to decide on what it's identity is and what each player's role was. It is what coaching is, balancing talent, ego's and making sure everyone is engaged. The two major changes from what they were for the first 30 or so games is #1 they are deciding to play defense and treat every possession critically and #2 they have all bought in to playing through DJ Burns. What I have loved about watching them during this run is that they will continuously play through Burns, over and over again. It is their biggest mismatch and best possible chance of success. It was upsetting to watch Fran/Iowa with Garza when they just went away from him at times, and instead, go to him every time down the floor until they stopped it.

Nobody is giving them a chance but NC State has a chance to beat Purdue IMO. Depends mainly on how they officiate Edey, but, I think NC State's guards are better than Purdue's and they can take them out of the game.

Absolutely, if they lost he was gone. Goes to show how often times success and failure balance on razor's edge. That banked in 3 against Virginia to put that game into OT sure made the coach a lot of money.
