NCAA considering allowing 5 years of eligibility for players in all sports

Well that is stupid. College is supposed to be a 4 year endeavor but many take 5 years to graduate.

Many athletes in major sports redshirt one year as we all know so they already have a Five years to play Four years rule.

Four years is enough, and all this would do is add a class year like GR for graduate or SR2 for second senior year so there would be more players getting paid more adding a lot more expense. Football teams that want to stay around 85 schollies will end up having 105 with this extra year.

I’ve said before, eligibility in terms of the amount of seasons one can play, is arbitrary and certainly felt courts would rule in favor of eliminating it entirely.

Oh good...one more year to transfer. If I play my cards right, I can attend 5 different schools! Now when they take those 5 official visits in high school, they can attend each school 1 year.

This is turning into a joke. This will serve to further log jam line ups, taking away opportunities from younger players.

It's a done deal. 5 to play 5. No medical redshirts, no nothing. Your 5 are done, you're done. No questions asked.

Of course that's what it's SUPPOSED to be. I'm sure someone will get around it somehow.

Exactly. If you recruit a guy who doesn't pan out, you're stuck with him for 5 years now. Using up a scholarship that could be used on someone else.
