NCAA debuts most dominant wrestler standings for 2017

The Most Dominant Wrestler standings are calculated by adding the total number of points awarded through match results and dividing that number by the total number of matches wrestled. Points per match are awarded as follows.

• Fall, forfeit, injury default or DQ = 6 points (-6 points for a loss)

• Tech falls = 5 points (-5 points for a loss)

• Major decision = 4 points (-4 points for a loss)

• Decision = 3 points (-3 points for a loss)

Of the 6 top 10 p4p recruits, 4 of them are members of the PSU wrestling team, the current #1 ranked wrestling team in the country. You just may be on to something about these top 10 p4p guys tarp..

You can't be on this list if you don't turn people often. That's why we don't see many Hawks. This is the glaring reason why the Hawks have relatively no chance to win nationals.

Looks like Intermat made a mistake. Gilman has 7 Tech Falls so he should be on the D1 list in either 5th, 6th, or 7th place.

They only count falls and tech falls versus same level of competition. Gilman had 1 against Malmberg from Messiah in the Midlands so that doesn't count according to their standings.

And those stats are why I'm often thought to be a PSU fan. I'm a Hawk fan for life, but years gone by the Dominant Wrestler list would have been populated by Hawks. It can only be partially explained away by talent.

Agreed. WrestleStat and Illinois seem correct, but IMar is nowhere to be found in the NCAA tech-fall leaders even though, with 8, he should be there.
