Baseball going from 11.7 scholarships to 34 is long overdue. Not sure the increase in football is good for any team except the blue bloods.

For those college football teams on the lower end of NIL money a decrease in scholarships would be a bit of a lifeline.

Roster sizes are going to be reduced.

This July 11, 2024 story from ESPN talked about "conferences throughout the sport are mulling whether to reduce the size of FBS football rosters from as many as 130 to 140 players down to 100 players or fewer. The Power Four conferences -- ACC, Big Ten, Big 12 and SEC -- seem to be eyeing a roster size of about 100 to 110 players, sources told ESPN. Conference commissioners are scheduled to meet again Friday to discuss the issue."

Looks like they have settled on a roster size of 105 and the entire 105 (and no more) on the roster would be on scholarship.

Not sure how this affects Title IX....

Many coaches and sports medicine personnel worry about the idea of dramatically reducing roster sizes in the wake of NCAA antitrust settlements. What would that mean for players and teams?
