Was looking at rankings (this week's poll not yet released). Last week we finally drew 2 votes in the AP poll; still nothing in the Coaches poll.
Was curious as to who actually is voting in the Coaches poll: 31 D1 head coaches, but only 5 were from Power 5 conferences. Must be one coach from each conference? Power 5: Auburn, Clemson, Rutgers, Villanova and Bill Fennelly from ISU. Doesn't matter of course, but seems to confirm how little time these coaches probably devote to this.

I'd say inconsistency is their biggest issue right now (looking at the entire season). Some days they absolutely look like a top 10 team, others maybe top 30 or so. Thankfully they seem to be progressing more to the good side of that equation in February.

It's insane to me. These girls are a top 20 team in my eyes. Yes, there are some problems which is why I didn't say top 10 but with the right draw these girls can easily get to the sweet 16.
They can prob go toe-to-toe with any 10-20 ranked team.. but those mid season losses hurt. Iowa got the 11 seed in the BTT and there are 3 (possibly 4 if Illinois drops) teams ahead of Iowa in the Big Ten that are not ranked.

The Coaches Poll should be called the "Assistant SID Poll".

Do you think Bill Fennelly is sitting there every Sunday night writing 25 team names down and submitting them? More likely, the Asst SID makes a top 25 list, the coach spends 30 seconds looking at it, and lists a couple changes they want and is done.

We did beat USC.
But they did actually beat one of them.
Right we did. Unfortunately, we were a bubble team then and the win didn't move the needle much.

I had my mind on the back-to-back UCLA/OSU games when we came close, but ultimately failed to win both of them.

Unfortunately, at the end of the season we have more unranked losses than we do ranked wins, and that ins't going to be that impressive to the voters.
