I love how all the husker fans think we need to beat a 5-6 nebby team to validate our undefeated season.

The way I look at it this season has already exceeded my expectations, now while I wouldn't be "pissed" if Iowa lost to Nebraska I would be extremely disappointed, in other words I wouldn't go nuclear and think the season was a waste. Like I said I would be disappointed and heartbroken given how things have played out, but if we can win and go 12-0, well then in my opinion everything else is gravy. After the Nebraska game I hope we win but if/when we lose I will be more so proud of the team versus upset or angry.

we must beat the dynasty known as "Nebraska" to validate our undefeated season

we must bow down and respect Nebby and their 5 national championships; we can only pray that we can beat them in front of another sell out crowd.

we cannot pay Nebby enough for the honor of having them in our conference. they are an elite, national brand and its a privilege to be their little brother.

How exactly are you going to have an undefeated season if you don't beat Nebraska? How could you validate it if you don't beat Nebraska? How many other losses are you allowed in an undefeated season?
I'm just confused by your line of thought here.

Gimmered - I can't speak for OnceAhawk, but I think he's referring to Iowa's undefeated season (up to this point), in that nobody can take that away from the Hawks, and it's a significant accomplishment in this day and age. Hawks have played well as a team and beaten all teams that have come "gunnin" for them. While I fully expect Iowa to close out the season undefeated on Fri, suppose anything can happen, but Hawks will still be playing the following week for a B10 championship.

To stay, yes, we have to beat Nebraska. Will it ruin Iowa's year if we lose? Hell no. We will be playing for the Big 10 Championship. That is obviously the biggest game of the year. Win or lose against Nebby, we still have accomplished far more than I or just about anybody else imagined. Obviously it will mean a lot to Nebby, because in their minds, they will be the best in the Big 10 if they beat us. Never mind all of their bad losses.

I am going to take a stab at what I think the OP meant (as it is obvious Iowa will need to beat nebraska to go undefeated)

We have seen many husker fans show up in this board and pop off about the hawkeyes schedule (they will be the toughest team we play, you know...regardless of what their 5-6 record says). hell, there was a thread or a post about some thread on the nebraska board wondering if they would be ranked at 6-6 with a win over Iowa.

I think the OP is trying to say that despite the delusion going around huskerland, The Nebraska name or whatever mystique they think they have, is not going to be of any benefit to Iowa when they beat the fuskers. beating a 5-6 team will not be a signature win, the media and talking heads will not look at that win like it is a marquee win (despite what Cowherd may think of Iowa's chances of beating them).

This. If Iowa can't beat Nebby, they don't belong in the playoffs. They still have the BIG championship to play for if they lose. That being said, it sure is fun to be still in the hunt for all the marbles.

11-0 is pretty awesome at this point, nobody can take that away from you. 11-1 and headed to Indy is still pretty effin good. I'm sure you would think 12-0 is better.

I'd love to see Nebraska as the only team that beat both the teams in the B1G championship game.

So if Nebraska beats Iowa Friday you will still be undefeated?

Nope. we will all cry as we refer to Nebraska, the dynasty, destroying our season.

I'm guessing the concept of an undefeated season as mentioned in the original post is somewhat over your head. Not sure there is a cure for that.

Gimmers are you purposely trying to be a d-bag or does it just come naturally? Pretty clear what the guy is alluding to about the record and being undefeated.

and why is he here? i have no interest in Nebby's boards....i guess when you are a football dynasty, you get bored counting your national championship trophies and have to do something to pass the time

Really not trying to be a d-bag at all, I'm just trying to point out to some really stupid people that in order for you to validate an undefeated season you do have to beat Nebraska, otherwise it won't be an undefeated season.
I am in no way saying that it isn't a great season, if you don't, jut that it won't be an undefeated season.
11-0 is awesome at this point in the season. 12-0 would make it an undefeated season, regular season anyway. 11-1 will still be a great season, one I'd be very proud of my self. I just wouldn't call it an undefeated season.

I don't post there often and spend much of my time on HROT, seldom come to the football board, but since we have a game Friday I thought it might be fun to talk a little football and, well point out some really stupid comments to Hawkeye fans.

look up the word "sarcasm," read my post again, and then tell us how stupid you really are.

you might also do some research on the expression "tongue in cheek."

thanks.

I look forward to hearing from you.

So you finally had that awe ha moment and are trying to pass it off as sarcasm? Classic.

Shut-up. We must beat Nebraska to have an undefeated season. If we're defeated by Nebraska, that means we're not undefeated. I expect to make them gag on the stench of our large genitals. If we don't, we didn't go
