Negative Take Away

I don't give a rats ass who they have back there running maybe just the FB
Maybe the RB are in there to just block..maybe they throw it every down but it makes no sense to have your starting QB and running backs o there when you have the game won.

For god sakes they spent 10 minutes of the 4th quarter with their first team offense in there running up the middle ... stupid and boring .

Mansell got what one series two series ? Ridiculous

Apparently you DO give a rat’s ass who’s back there. If it’s “boring” to you, turn the game off.

Have you considered this when you speak about 'starters' playing too long? On offense 4 receivers played (at least), 4 TE's played (it could be 5 as I think Cook got in on the last series but, I wasn't paying attention), at least 6 offensive linemen played as I know that Ferguson started but Banwart came in at some point. Don't know who played on the line the last series. And last but not least 3 running backs played. They play this many guys every game, how many fricken people do you want to play? It's not like some other teams, or some of our past teams where only 11 or 12 guys play the whole game. I think that's why everyone was happy to see Manzel get some meaningful reps with the first team, because at every other position, we have backups that have starting experience or play extensively. I don't know if Banwart has gotten game reps at center. If he hasn't he probably should.

There are 85 players on that sideline and I can bet you that only half of them saw action Saturday. When your up by 23 points and you don't put your backup QB in until 5 minutes to go that is playing with Fire.meaningful snaps? all he did was hand the ball off... at least give him a chance to throw the ball

Well, I believe there was over 8 minutes left in the game when he came in of a game that we were only 3 scores up in. Have to secure the win first.

According to the participation chart, 55 players appeared in the game. I'm not great at fractions, but I believe that is significantly higher than half.

Oh, and he did attempt to throw the ball twice. He ran on one of them, and he threw incomplete to Fant. You don't appear to have any of your facts correct. Try to get accurate information before getting all upset. One might take care of the other.

Great next time a starter gets hurt when we are up 3 scores on a team
That has done nothing to indicate they can even move the ball...than it's on you to explain why?

The game was freakin over...rest the starters play the reserves it's football common sense 101...

I could not disagree more with the OP. As many on here know, I have been a pretty vocal critic of Kirk and his staff in the past. However, I don't think anyone could criticize this staff for what they are doing this year. They are having a splendid year. The team is getting better each week. What more could any rational person want?
You quit drinking didn’t you?

I like the new you! ;)

What # is your son? I will look for him next game. Hope he gets some PT.

Iowa is playing well ,coaches are doing great, fun team to watch but....

Starters are being kept in way to long offense and defense..

Quite frankly, our entire offense should have been pulled going into 4th quarter today .

This has occurred several times in last couple games .
Not pulling STARTERS been occuring for YEARS! 4th Quarter pleese? Go Hawks! Players Tough as usual.

So you think only 42-43 players saw action? I’ll bet you any amount of money you want that # is closer to 60 than it is 42.

If we pull the entire offense, who's on the field when we have the ball? Do we put the defense out there when we have possession? Just punt it back to them on 1st down? What's your plan here?

Reading your posts in the this thread, it's clear you have no clue. Don't play the starting RB's, but you can't suggest anyone other than "a FB" as the alternative. Playing "a FB" when you've already got one out due to injury seems pretty damn stupid, especially when you're doing it with your own acknowledgement that risk of injury is a concern. Who plays FB when "a FB" also gets hurt while you're protecting the RBs?

Some people should have read only access to this board....
