NET - NCAA Committee Evaluation

I keep reading how the committee doesn’t use NET rankings as much as once thought when selecting the tourney field. If so, then why are Quad 1/2/3/4 wins and losses even tracked since the level of Quad win is based on a team’s NET ranking?

If NET doesn’t matter much, then evaluating a team based on how many Q1 wins they have doesn’t make sense.
