What has caused the proliferation of the “Fall Classic” sort of arrangement where multiple teams go to one neutral side to play a game (men in KC: IA men vs UState and Wichita vs St Louis) or even multiple games (Cancun Challenge for Iowa women with 10 teams each playing 2 or 3 round robin games) where there is no championship game, 3rd place game, 5th place game, etc.
Did something change in NCAA rules/scheduling to create more of these and fewer fall tournaments?
