I changed the channel to baseball, Never liked anything Star Wars or Star Trek.

I liked the original Star Trek TV show and probably watched the original Star Wars movie in the theater half a dozen times the summer it came out.

The subsequent iterations of both franchises? Meh.

I think this trilogy is going to be phenomenal especially compared to episodes 1-3

I've never been a big Trekkie, and those last three Star Wars movies sucked.

I did like the last two Trek films, but I know a lot of Trekkies don't.

I am giving serious consideration to watching all 7 films on the December 17th. Some theater chains are doing a Star Wars marathon starting with Phantom all the way to Awakens.

I've seen all the other Star Wars movies but not a nutjob about them. The new trailer looks good. Looks like they are bringing back some of the original cast to win back the older folks but it looks like they are setting up new heros/vilains for a new generation of Star Wars geeks. Can't imagine Harrison Ford sticks around for the next 8 or 9 versions of Star Wars.

I thought it was suppose to be a few years before we saw this movie??

Was that incorrect or am I off on my time here? Because it seems like it wasn't that long ago that Lucas sold the rights to Disney and then Disney sent in Abrams

I think it has been a couple years since the announcement. Expect a new Star Wars movie every 18 months for the next decade+.

I never watched episodes 1-3 and have no desire to do so. This one, though, is a "must" for me.
Lucky

Phantom Menace was bad, 2 and 3 shaped the story to go into 4/5/6 but story lines and great characters were sacrificed for really bright and shiny stuff

I think 2 and 3 hate is just because Phantom is attached to them

The Empire Strikes Back is still the best of the bunch. Best character development and cliffhanger/plot twist ("Luke, I am your Father"). Kirschner, the Director, got it right.

I have considered re-watching the entire set and tryting to watch it "fresh" using the Machete Order.

IV, V, II, III, VI

I think this is going to be great. Abrams is using CGI, but only when needed and not all the time. He is using real sets and actors in costume to give it a more authentic feel versus the sterile fake CGI feel the last 3 had. I blame Lucas on getting some new CGI toys and over using them. I think these new films will be received far better than I, II, III.

I have to say that the costume design that I saw and some of the special effects looked pretty inspired by the first trilogy.

Exactly, in the late 70's and into the 80's they used costumes and sets to make these films. Then in the 2000's Lucas inserted tons of CGI into episodes I, II and III. These new films are going to use CGI, but only when needed... and instead go back to costumes and sets to give it a more authentic feel. So, I think viewers will enjoy these more than the last 3 that were CGI heavy.

You were watching MNF instead of Playoff Baseball??? Get your priorities straight.

Eagles v Giants....meh.

Playoff baseball is awesome.
I'll watch it tonight, but when football is on I usually watch that over anything else.

Perhaps if these movies are good and do well they will turn the tide back to a little less CGI use.

I havn't seen the movie so don't give any spoilers but my brother in law said that he was disappointed in Jurassic World because they used CGI dinosaurs instead of animatronics.

The dialogue more than the CGI in episodes 1-3 are what bothered me. They could have done so much with the Jedi Order and backstories of the Sith but they didn't. 3 was alright, but there were way too many times i said "That was cheesy" instead of "that was awesome."

The dialogue did leave something to be desired. Even Samuel L Jackson sounded flat in the series. This trailer looks excellent, I will be seeing this probably more than once.
