New Bracketology

It will be really interesting to see what happens if Gonzaga and San Diego St. win out. I see both as #1 seeds in that scenario, but if either stumble, I think the committee probably looks to keep teams geographically close giving the pair the 1/2 seeds in the west.

I think Iowa's placement is right. In the 4/5 pod in Tampa, but to have Auburn ahead of the Hawks is just nuts. Hawks have a better road record, better Q1 record, more Q1 wins, more Q1/2 wins... really Auburn is just living off respect for scheduling crappy teams.

With no dominant teams or players this year, I really think seedings mean less this year than usual. It will be all about matchups. A team could be seeded #9 and have an easier road to the Sweet 16 than if that same team were seeded #6. This could be like Iowa's last FF run in '80 where no #1's make it to the FF.

I'd gladly take a 5. 7-12 suck because it's basically a coin flip to advance, only to face a buzzsaw of a team in the 2nd round.

If we cant beat a 13 as a 5 we deserve to go home. Then we have a coin flip game to go to the sweet 16. Sign me up.

No problem with a 5 seed from me. Yeah you're on the same side of the bracket as the 1 seed but you can hope they get knocked out before the Sweet 16. Personally anything 6 or higher I'm good with. The 3/6/11 line is a pretty good spot to be IMO with the 2 seed potentially not till the Sweet 16, and the 1 seed in the elite 8. A lot can happen in a bracket before then.

I don't like that 7-10 range. That's pretty close to an automatic second round exit.

As someone else said, though, match ups are key.

One thing is for sure: You're gonna have to beat some excellent teams to make a deep run.

It's a 12 vs 5 which is notoriously an upset game.

1991 in Minneapolis. I was there. E. Tenn. had Mr. Jennings. Troy Skinner had best game of his career.
I was there as well. Had two Gopher fans sitting in front of me who spent the whole game trashing the Hawks and yelling "Mr. Jennings!" When the Hawks pulled away at the end it was fun to loudly clap into their ears from behind while they sat and pouted.

we have 13 reg season and at least 1 BTT game left before Selection Sunday.

as we have seen in years past, anything can happen in the last half of the season.

and when you are down to 8 players (who are available and who you want to play; ie, you don't want to see much of Till & you don't want to see Ash out there), the margin of error is tiny.
