New D1 Program Added

Apparently they are working to do this at other Historically Black Colleges as well.
Thanks for sharing this link! This organization is targeting programs across multiple HBCUs, including growing collegiate wrestling in areas like Florida and Texas.

AWESOME!!! Where exactly is Morgan State and don't tell me google is my friend. :)
One of the NFL's all-time greats was an outstanding wrestler at one of America's HBCU, Morgan State University; Roosevelt Brown. Brown had a long and distinguish career with the NFL's New York Giants as an offensive tackle. Brown was inducted into the NFL's Hall of Fame as one the greats of his generation, an All-Pro numerous times. Welcome back Bears!

I remember at a tournament, during the 1986 season, our 215ish athletic heavy weight wrestled Tiny(Emmanuel). I will say he was really really big but not all that fat back then. He was very tall (internet says 6’8”). He later gained a lot of weight and did Sumo at over 700# and, later, got over 800#. Anyway, Tiny and our guy were pummeling for a bit. Tiny decides to take a shot. He does one of those over extended reaching shots that makes every coach cringe when their athlete does it. Our guy backs out a little and as Tiny is trying to come up he hits a pancake action and takes Tiny to his back. Our guy is chest to chest and his body is straight as a board. We are right on the edge of the mat going nuts. Tiny is laying there smiling for maybe 15 seconds. Then he reaches down and grabs our guys knee and with a straight arm lifts his leg so high that he is able to roll our guy straight over the top of his head and pins him. Tiny did AA that year. Unfortunately, that was the last year of the unlimited weight class and Tiny didn’t get to wrestle his senior season. He was one of those big friendly guys that everyone wanted to talk to.

I remember Yarborough at the NCAAs in Iowa City in 1986. He AA and was a giant. I think that was also the last year Hwt. was an unlimited weight class. Glad Yarborough snuck in the last year possible for someone of his size. Unfortunately he did about 5-6 years ago from a heart attack (no kidding?).
Pro Football HOF Leroy Kelly also a Morgan state football player.
