New Flo ranks

Florida's results at nationals should show that rankings don't mean much. It is a state that has all the potential in the world to be top teir but can't seem to get it together. They had 3 or 4 Olympians last go around which was awesome but they have some fundamental issues as a state. If they get it together, they would be a true hotbed.

Seems like Iowa HS wrestling has been on the downslide for some time now.

That may just be me pulling a classic old timer "Back in my day..._____" fill in the blank, but even in the late 2000's, Iowa HS wrestling was much tougher overall. I could be wrong.
You are not wrong. It's not a coincidence that Iowa's recruiting has moved quite some distance EAST of the Mississippi River.

Like 23 so far said. FL for the most part just doesn't do much in college. I would guess their best chance for a DI AA in the near future is Fox Baldwin.

Pat Lugo not Fox Baldwin.

The talent has always been there in Florida but the coaching is just now starting to get there. It will be a powerhouse soon. As a whole though, it has more top end guys than Iowa but the depth is much greater in Iowa

It is more about leadership within the sport. Coaching has been there. Not much has changed in that respect. Powerhouse won't happen until they get their house in order.

Iowa was late to the club scene. Iowa is going to do what it's always done, represent itself pretty well all all levels of wrestling.

Lots of good, young coaches in Florida now. USA wrestling in Florida is a joke but AAU is very strong.

Strong is a strong word. Growing.
The young coaches are gravitating to year round folk style which I think is not a good thing however the state tournament is getting stronger every year.

The top teams are still lead by long established coaches of 15 to 20+years in. Those younger coaches are picking it up quick. If they can take control of the leadership, the state will take off.

With the USA program being so poorly run, it holds the state back. Although there are some young bucks about to hit high school that are going to be studs nationally.

I guess I should say, Florida has everything it needs to be a real power and recruiting ground. They really do. Just the good ole boys have the rains and are not sport/kid minded.
