Love this guy, he's a winner fellas.

Agreed. Wrestled above his weight his whole high school career. By the end of the year, will be making a few starters work for it.
Cant be the Riddler because he doesnt need to work at it. Cradle him up and call it a night.

Word is he’s one of the most room ready young men to come into the program off the bat. He’ll need to develop some more leg attacks, but he’s already a tremendous work out partner to anyone near his weight. As Chief said, by years end he’ll be more than making the guys earn it. Barring anything unforeseen I have no doubt Wyatt will have a phenomenal run as a Hawkeye.

Ok guys if he can develop some more leg attacks he COULD end up having a Metcalf type career. You will LOVE this kid!
We already love the kid because he's a Hawkeye. Other than that he's got some work to do...........

Metcalf went 108-3, OW at NCAA's, 3x NCAA Finalist in 3 years, 2x NCAA Champion, 1st ever to be 2x OW back to back at Big Ten's, Big Ten Male Athlete of the Year and a Hodge winner.

Good luck to anyone wishing to have a "Metcalf type career".

Those matches don't tell us anything. He was in the silver division (something like that). Wait until he wrestles the big boys.

Want me to write you a list of all the guys who have competed in the Silver Division over the last few years? Some of the biggest names start out wrestling in those brackets as Freshmen… in fact, most do. Silver brackets are essentially a bracket for the Freshmen. That includes the elite Freshmen and the Freshmen who need work. Most coaches do this for the majority of their guys… I don’t know for sure, but I presume it’s to help them get acclimated to the college level. Coaches have to be careful with Freshmen wrestler’s confidence. Most freshmen, even your blue-chippers come into the D1 room at the beginning and get their asses kicked for the first time ever and it is not uncommon for some of them to have the thought, “this is tough, can I even do this?!” At the beginning of the season when the tournaments start unraveling, most Freshmen are still getting their butts kicked by the veterans in the room….and they are probably frustrated as hell about it.

Confidence can be a fragile thing even for the toughest and most confident people. If you are struggling with something for a prolonged period of time, chances are, you are in need of a confidence booster. Or at least something that won’t hurt it…

Freshmen wrestling in the varsity/gold divisions at the first couple open tournaments of the year are likely going to get their butts kicked by an upperclassmen. Considering the butt-kickings most Freshmen are taking on a daily basis in practice, getting your butt kicked by an upperclassman at a tourney in front of a crowd, would do nothing, but add to the frustration. Salt on the wound.

Wyatt could have done just fine in the Gold Division at 141. And he was wrestling against other Freshmen who are in the same boat as him. He was NOT facing bad competition for a Freshman in his first ever college tourney. In fact, I’ve seen several instances in which the champion of the silver bracket could potentially beat the champions of the gold bracket.

I can understand how someone would think Wyatt wrestled bad opponents at Luther, but I think these people are wrong. Wyatt is just so good and physical with his snaps that he made people look bad that day.

Some people think they know but they don’t. Only know locally. Locally schrevier and drake are great and will be moving forward. Henson is a dude the has gotten better over the years and will continue to get better. Will take lumps but will get better. Hell pk will take his lumps too. But will be better at the end. Schriever is the most impressive to me at this moment.

Henson is very tough and has a motor. He may take lumps the first couple years but I wouldn't be surprised if he ends his career as a 3 or 4x AA. I don't think he is as ready as Ayala but still very good. His dad is a bit of a nut but he (mostly) means well I think. Kind of reminds me of Terry a little bit. Shame that he was let go from WVU but it worked out well for Iowa at the end of the day.

I wasn't being critical. I am just in a wait and see mode.

brennan is fun to watch, in these tournaments let it all hang out. Try stuff, who gives a shit if you get stuck.. learn from it. I did see he was working some tilts, maybe you got your wish about learning them from spencer :)
