**NEW** Iowa Women's Basketball Recruiting Thread

Think the ESPN Hoopgurlz listing is an alphabetical watch list at this point. She’s toward the bottom of the 29 listed because her last name begins with V.

Her recent offers include UCONN, South Carolina, Notre Dame and Stanford. May be the most heavily recruited post in the ‘26 class.
Interesting. Thanks for the heads up.

Does anyone have inside info on the women's team on progress and development of players, such as Addison, Jada, AJ, and how the young guards are coming along? I'd think Jesen would be super-concentrating bringing post players up to speed.

Much of it is chemistry between Caitlin, or the point guard and the post on the floor. The outside-inside-outside game is intuitive and sets up of Iowa's perimeter offense.

I think coaches are on the road, so probably working on their own? It looked to me like clark has the best connection with Goodman, but Sharon has been limited by the knee. I expect her to be fully healthy to start the year. It will be Interesting to see wo comes out ahead... also do they change the offense a bit to better match the strengths of O'Grady/Stuelke?

I would be shocked if they don't go small - spread the floor for Clark with shooters to nullify double teams, 1 in, be it Hannah or Addy pending defensive matchups. Unless something develops with the 4/5 slots, that almost has to be the way it goes to make Clark most effective. Non-shooters on the perimeters clogs the lane for Clark to maneuver.

You're never supposed to want time to go faster since time can't be recovered, but..............

Damn, I am ready for the 2023-24 women's season to start.
I hear ya. Next year will be unpredictable. If forced to guess, I'd expect a sluggish start. The faithful will be grumbling about Bluder's inability to add someone through the portal. We had 6 losses heading into the postseason this year, I'm expecting 8-10 next season. High probability of losing to at least one of the in-state schools even with ISU being depleted. Doubtful we'll win the Big 10 Tournament.

I do expect us to do well enough to be one of the 16 schools to host the 1st week of March Madness. I do expect our run this year to pay dividends late in the season, with us gaining momentum late. With some luck...who knows?

Warnock was one of our best shooters. None of our posts have demonstrated proficiency as outside shooters, and when Warnock was out,Martin played the 4 and we got smoked due to poor rebounding. I think you can go small against a lot of teams, but you cannot compete against top 10 programs being that small.

We actually beat OSU without Warnock? When did we get smoked without her?

some of the preseason poles the Women's team is rated 4th and is showing up as a #1 seed in a couple mock NCAAW brackets. hmmm again the posters on this board are already have thrown the team under the bus as being failures already.

The Iowa WBB team bench is being underestimated
by several posters. They are young, talented, inexperienced (but that will change quickly) and they have tasted success. With the Coaches developing their talent, as we know they can, they will be fine. Several future stars there. Plus, even Clark can and WILL improve. She can cut down on turnovers and improve her defense.

Iowa WBB will make a deep run in the NCAAs again next year.

Caitlin softmore year she hot hurt at the end of the ohio state game... followed by blowout loos to Michigan, (clark went off, but we could not compete Inside). Stuelke added a lot of presence at the 4 this year, but small means she plays the 5 and martin

I know what going small means but im just not buying that that means we cant compete. We beat OSU (then the #2 team in the country and an eventual Elite 8 team) starting Davis at the 2. Stuelke and Syd elevated this years team in large part bc of their rebounding and they will only improve and get more minutes next year.

I dont believe the '22 team is relevant when all remaining personnel from that season are improved now and the blowout to Michigan largely happened bc both Marshall and Warnock were injured and IRRC only 7 players were available (including 2 freshmen) anyway.

We lose Warnock and Czinano. Big losses. But Czinano wasn't a top 100 recruit coming out and Warnock was #84 by ESPNw. AOG was ranked #92 and Stuelke was #45. They should move into the starting spots. Behind them are Ediger who was #39 and Gymfi who was #76. So there is talent. And Goodman averaged 7.2 pts. and 4.3 rebounds as a freshman. If she can come back from her knee injury she could be a valuable member of the rotation. Jensen is great at developing post players. And as long as you have Clark, you're in a position to be great. Will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Getting a strong Gustafson vibe watching clips of Vokusa. ‘26 class includes Madyn Greenway IIRC New law firm forming?

I wouldn’t pin all your hopes on two kids who have offers from all over the country. People rly need to lower their expectations with Greenway IMO. If we get her, great, but it’s far from the done deal everyone is making it out to be.

It’s a done deal.

Edit: Maddyn is a done deal except if Iowa withdraws the offer.

Why do you say that?

Do you have a source with firsthand knowledge or are you full of shit?

I hope it’s the first. I assume it’s the second.

You can take my informed opinion any way you like.
What does informed opinion mean? Again, are you saying you have a source with firsthand knowledge? Even secondhand knowledge? If so, I’ll accept that and be pretty happy tbh. Why even say anything if you’re not willing to back it up even a bit?

I consider myself pretty informed too and what I’ve seen is

1) An article from i think two years ago (when she was maybe 13) saying she wanted to go to Iowa, and her then continuing to visit colleges and publicize her offers since then. Since that article, I’ve learned that a lot of people on this board think that teens never change their minds and never misspeak either.

2) Someone on the other message board running into her dad a couple months ago and reporting that her dad said he would like her to go to Iowa but “she’s gonna be a kid” (or something like that) which could mean a whole lot of things but definitely not that it’s a “done deal.”

Sorry but especially after so many people being convinced about Lauren Betts and all the surrounding bullshit (lol like what was that ridiculous clickbait article) I have a hard time believing you if you can’t even provide a bit of context as to why you are “informed.”

My opinion is based on a conversation at Christmas. Not a direct source but a close connection.

I hope you’re right! An encouraging sign for sure if you know someone who knows the family.
Actually, I violated my own rule of speaking in absolutes. “Done deal” implies absolute certainty. They are letting the allowing the normal recruiting process play out but nothing has changed, all Iowa

She's just taking her free trips.

You really need to learn just what, "throwing someone under the bus " is. Many have posted that we could struggle with the losses of our main post scorer, in Monica, and a very solid third scorer and rebounder. Warnock will be missed. I understand peoples concerns, even though I think we'll see solid improvement from AOG, Goodman, Stuelke, Affolter, and MCcabe, but thats not guaranteed they'll play with the chemistry of the group that started 90 games together. For some reason you always jump right to the "everybodies throwing people under the bus, or, your all "Haters". No one is doing that, and you really need to knock that off......

no they need to grow up and start supporting this team rather than trashing them.

for Gods sake they return the NPOY in Clark and have multiple starters back. its not like Bluder has to replace all 5 starter also the women have 15 scholarship players to use vs the men who have just 13,

besides if the starters were not as good the others would have already been starting.

again thev are indeed throwing them under the bus just because they were not starting,

some of these posters act like parents bitching about their poor little johnny or little suzey is not starting and/or playing enough.

In the "Why don't stars want to play with Clark" thread, there is a post with Brad from the swarm saying Bluder is still working on a few portal candidates...looking at who's already committed, I don't know if anyone left would have a significant impact. Makes me wonder if there are some names that haven't publicly announced they've entered via social media??

There must be a few still pondering the process; but if they haven't publicly announced, then I believe there are restrictions re: contacting any potential player. But there may be someone who has reached out to the program. I haven't completely given up on the possibility, but as you suggested; with just one roster spot, it would have to be a major contributor, and almost certain starter. Otherwise, seems Bluder will be content to stand pat, and focus on recruiting.

Sadly, I have to agree.

The Hawks are not hurting in the post position. I think Addison is ready, Sharon is a capable back-up, A.J. has shown flashes, and hopefully Gyamfi develops enough to help Hannah fill Warnock's spot. Of course at 6'2" and athletic, Hannah can also post.

Fortunately, we are guard rich. Bite my tongue for saying that.

I'm not as confident that we're all set at post. I didn't see the growth in Addy this year that I anticipated. She seemed a little foot-slow, passive, and didn't have the best receiving hands. Also seemed that Bluder was often frustrated with her. Hopefully she'll step up and get some dawg in her.

I agree 100% as she (Addy) is slow to react and disappears at time. And with HS at the four who has not displayed any ability to hit anything other than a layup it will be pretty congested in the lane.
