New Jacob Warner interview

Thanks, Todd.

I'da felt better if he would have mentioned Purdue after OSU so the schools would have been given straight alphabetically.

I wouldn't worry about tosu. Kollin Moore just made the world team and will be a redshirt Frosh next year at 197. From the sounds of it JW is a 97 and not an 84.

I really think that it is between IOWA and Illinois. Just can't see Minnesota or Purdue. When I can't make up my mind I resort to flipping a coin. So, I flipped a coin and it came up

Perry can recruit no doubt but for coaching to develop international free style success, he's not the right guy. Totally unproven there. If Warner truly wants to be successful beyond just college, then of the choices listed Iowa is the only one that makes sense.

tOSU has done a damn fine job of developing big guys. Yet like someone mentioned above, they have Moore so they probably wouldn't offer him that much money considering the studs they have. I think Iowa has a mixed bag of big guy success. Burak was underrated and plucked out of OTS but than Brooks hasn't won any titles. Warner can come in and turn the tide for us, along with a combo of Stoll and Bradley. Bradley is still an unknown but I have a feeling Stoll and him are just going to get better. Bobby didn't have a high level Hwy to work with everyday.

Regardless of the recruit, the situation, or the schools on the list, Iowa is always the only one that makes sense.

MN is in play. Long history of big guy success. Still IA's to lose IMO.
Will Minnesota know who it's Coach is by November signing day? That situation appears to have not moved an inch since J Rob was suspended.

I gotta agree. Minny has done a very good job over the last two decades with heavier guys. The biggest problem right now, even if J survives, is he's still very near the end of his coaching career. There's no way in hell he is still a HC by the time Warner is a jr./sr.

MN HC fate will be determined by then.

Warner will probably be sad to lose JRob as a training partner, but Eggum should be able to step in and compete as hard as he can for 7 minutes.

If the fate of the head coach is determined by then, they should go ahead and fire the new athletic director as well. I understand that you're a Minnesota fan, so you're trying to be optimistic but this entire situation is an unmitigated disaster for the wrestling program. I highly doubt that they will be handing out a contract to the head assistant coach that was on staff during all of this nonsense. That means that Eggum will likely be an interim head coach for a year, while they open a national search. No matter what, I highly doubt there will be a stable coaching situation for another year or two. If any recruit chooses Minnesota over other top programs it will be because they are huge gopher fans from birth or scholarship money is more important to them than anything else.

Agree, Eggum may be the short term solution, but there's no way he has appeal to attract top flite guys in the long run. He just doesn't exude a high energy, electric feeling in the times I have seen him interviewed.

Perhaps not all recruits are looking for a high energy, electric personality for a head coach?! Eggum has fared well with his recruiting abilities, not sure how that gets worse with him being at the head of the program(if that occurs).

Given the results of the last season and a half, I'd say the program is in need of a big overhaul. But that's just me. Given his time there... it's certainly a logical choice to have him lead the team... for now.

The big problem is that you're going to have a VERY, VERY difficult time getting people to believe the coaching staff didn't realize what was going on earlier. Even moreso... the assts should have known even before J did.

I didn't realize my words held so much power. One day after posting that situation hasn't moved an inch, Eggum is named acting Head Coach. I'm going to have to start mentioning the Powerball in some of these posts...........................:D
