New Linebacker coach?

KOK is probably looking for work, move Woods back to LB's and KOK could coach TE's. Not sure he would want to come back and he would have to swallow some pride to be TE's coach instead of OC.

Isn't Davis about ready to retire? Maybe KOK can do the OC until Kirk is ready to retire.

I'd prefer BF over KOK, although I remain confident that KOK would have done well with the 2014 offensive personnel.

Never heard anything about Davis going to retire. Just because he's over 60 I guess he's suppose to retire. As long as he's doing his job with the talent he's got what's with the retirement rumors? Those who want KOK, he's over 60 so I guess he will have to retire shortly after he would be hired. I know, as soon as Kirk reaches 60 he will have to retire. Whoop, too late.

I think the hire depends on Woods. If KF believes Woods can handle coaching the LBs, I'd move him back to LB, and then hire a young, energetic guy to coach TE, special teams, and help recruit. If KF thinks Woods is better suited as the TE/Special teams coach, then we probably need to get a LB coach with some experience (Division I or FCS) that Parker thinks will fit well on his defensive staff.

Nobody was rushing to hire GD, either...except, of course, KF.

Seemed to have worked out pretty well this year, especially considering he had a QB running the show at 50% health and still rolled off a school record 12 wins. If we do what I think we are capable of doing next year GD might have his second NC as an OC or at least our 2nd top 10 finish in consecutive years
Go Hawks

There's another former LB coach from the state that's looking for work.

Dan McCarney is also looking for work.. But his age is a huge factor... Look for a young hire.. Probably promote a 2nd year ga named binns.. Then bring in a new ga named canzeri..

Not a bad thought. Not sure I'd agree with Canzeri but only because I think it might be good for him to go elsewhere for his own development. That might be good for Brod too.

With our current linebacker experience I'd be looking for a recruiter that is a "players coach". IMO we just need to continue the direction Jim put into place, take recruiting advantage of back to back (anticipated) big winning seasons, and continue to get a little younger as a staff.

I'd be a bit hesitant to start moving people around as our current chemistry has been a key to our success. Let's keep as many of the player/coach relationships in tact as we can. If Phil needs to add additional time to support the linebackers in a worst case senario after the hire we would still be in pretty good shape.

David Raih to TE coach and Woods back to LB coach. My only concern is why was Woods moved away from the LB's in the first place?

David seems to have some recruiting focus in his background. I'd guess he'll make less then Reid and maybe some of those money's can be channeled to other asst's.

I believe Raih is with the Greenbay Packers. Chinander was at Oregon and followed Frost to UCF. He is starting to make a name for himself. I believe Steen is actually working as a strength and conditioning coach.

I have a feeling that this hire will be someone totally off the radar. A Jim Reid type that we've never heard of but like their resume. Hopefully younger too but with established recruiting connections.

In regards to Woods being moved from LB coach to TE coach only shows that KF thinks very highly of him. IMO our best coach/teacher in the program is Morgan, he went from coaching TE to OL to DL and those positions improved exponentially under his eye. Furthermore, it could be argued that those 3 positions were actually best when he was coaching them.

Sounded to me from KF interview that he had a candidate or candidates in mind, it also sounded like when Reid was hired our program and Parker were at very different places. I think that this hire will be somebody more youthful than Reid b/c Parker has his feet under him now.
