Should really be something.. by my count 17,20,21,23,26,27,31,32,33 and 36 all lost! Will be interesting to see if we see Navy and Kentucky type names or overrated Texas, LSU, Florida teams hanging in there..

Iowa is 4-2 with close losses to undefeated Penn State and one-loss MSU (who just beat #7 Michigan on the road).

Soooooo...if you are tacitly making the case Iowa could/should crack the Top 25 this week, I'm sold. ;)

Granted, I'm more concerned with where they're at in the polls after playing Ohio State, Wisconsin, and Debbie, but yes, let's see Iowa slide in this week!

I know. I just wanted to mention it again :)

And it should help quiet the Super Bowl chatter around here for a while, right? ;)

Seriously, though, I watched pretty much the entire fourth quarter of the game and was pulling hard for ISU. I suppose it's too soon to speculate, but it makes you wonder what Park's status with the team will be from this point on, not knowing the extent or severity of what his "personal health issues" are.

Imagine the memory for that third string ISU QB. I know, I'm supposed to hate ISU, but they are a nuisance to me more than anything. Nebraska I hate.

You and everybody else. I read somewhere that he has quit the team, but it was on the Internet, so it probably isn't true. Interesting thing is that the kid who played yesterday wasn't #2 on the depth chart. He was behind a redshirt freshman; reportedly, Campbell didn't want to put a younger guy into that situation.

You don't have to dig through the weeds too much to figure out what Parks' "Personal Health Issues" are...his college football days are complete.

Go Hawks!

Usually when I hear people take a leave of absence for "personal health issues" it has to do with mental health.

Iowa state is 38th, Iowa 40th.Great win for the cyclones!! LC is the the biggest upset you have seen the clones pull off?

Just one more Hawkeye saying congratulations to Iowa State!
Regardless of polls and rankings the Cyclones woke up the
world of college football.

Wow. Perhaps a bit of overreaction from AP voters? When was the last time ISU got votes and we didn't, 2001?

The AP Poll has 3 Big Tens ranked in the top 10
and Michigan and Michigan St. are in the top 20.
Too early for the AP Poll to mean anything for the
Hawkeyes. We need to beat Ohio State and then
we will earn our ranking.

Probably the biggest win, but I think the biggest upset was 19-10 over Nebraska in 1992. ISU was bad. Nebraska was ranked 7th, but was on a roll after an early loss at Washington; the week of the ISU game, Bob Devaney said he thought it was the best Nebraska team he had ever seen.

Cyclones just kicked their butts. Nebraska had no turnovers and only two penalties. ISU rushed for over 300 yards and was taking knees inside the Husker 10 at the end. I don't think Trev Alberts has ever gotten over it.

It was the only time in his career that Osborne lost to a team with a losing record, and the only game Tommie Frazier lost as a starter. Just bizarre as hell.

But it was a meaningless game for both teams. Yesterday was not. And the '92 game was in Ames.

It was a trap game for OU. They were in full Texas mode and ISU took advantage of the opportunity and seized it. Good for ISU and MSU as it helps Iowa's strength of schedule with both winning at highly ranked opponents houses.

Nebraska was coming off two impressive wins over ranked teams. I almost never predict games, but on the drive from Cedar Rapids to Ames that day, I predicted a Cyclone victory. I just felt like Nebraska would overlook us. I would have never guessed it was our defense that won the day.

I had the good fortune to travel on the team plane to Oklahoma and watch from the visitor's suite. I had never been there before. I was excited for that opportunity, but was not looking forward to what I thought would be a long ride home. I played out the scenario of a win in my mind and how great that would be, but I gave us little chance. And it looked bad when it was 14-0 early and we had only run 3 plays. But this was a win for the ages.

From what I saw this Oklahoma team is probably not as good as that Nebraska team turned out to be. That team didn't lose another regular season game for a few years. They lost their bowl game that year but never lost the next two years in winning two National Championships. Vegas may or may not have had as big a spread as it was for the Oklahoma game, but I believe by the end of the season or maybe as early as next week, we will learn this Oklahoma team is nowhere near as good as that Nebraska team was.

EDIT (correction): OU lost their next two bowl games, but never lost a regular season game since that ISU loss for the next 3-1/2 years. In the 1992 season (1993 Orange Bowl) Nebraska lost to Florida State. They capped the 1993 season by playing for a National Championship, but again lost to Florida State. The 1994 (1995 bowl) and 1995 (1996 bowl) seasons were the ones where they ran the table and won back-to-back national championships.

They may have overlooked us, but I think Baylor and now Iowa State have exposed their inability to defend teams that spread them out.

Oklahoma still could have kept pace scoring if they hadn't made mistakes on offense. There weren't many mistakes, but in a fairly clean game, any mistake is costly. Their fumble deep in Iowa State territory was the difference, especially after Iowa State drove it 94 yards (or 98 yards if you count going backwards on the first couple plays) for the tying score late in the third quarter.
