Not one thread on the change in the punting game many have called for? I thought the freshman looked looked okay today.

3 punts with a 37.7 avg ..... I'd say mediocre at best .... maybe we should put some emphasis on recruiting this position?

I believe 2 of them in the 3rd were against that wind which picked up. Id hold judgement for another week.
Wind was tricky today. Two of his punts had great hang time and allowed for coverage. If we can average 40 yds with no return, that's a great punt game.
Many people got what they wanted...to see Ryan in action. And guess what? He wasn't the "savior" some people thought he'd be.
We have two good punters. Punting isn't easy. Yesterday's conditions were particularly difficult to punt in. In case some missed it, the Illinois punter struggled as well. Now that Ryan has had the redshirt removed, I hope both guys get the opportunity to show what they can do. In my mind, our current punting situation is very comparable to our QB situation this past spring; both good players, but neither able to distinguish himself. Both of our guys have high ceilings. When one of them gels, we'll be in good shape.

Punting looked good. Talking about punting, Reggie Roby made punting exciting.
I actually paid attention to the punters warming up at half. That wind was brutal kicking to the south endzone. For him to have that average isn't concerning. Wasn't sold as our savior for punting but glad we were able to see him.
I like Gersonde’s punts better just for the fact they produce more “Hang time” than Rastetter’s do.. It gives our guys time to get down the field..
