Hey everyone, I'm starting up a new morning show with Jim Brinson in Des Moines on 1700 The Champ from 7-9. We started up this morning.

Hope you guys can give it a try on your way in to work. I'll make sure to give you plenty of Hawkeye talk, something sorely needed in the market.

I caught it this morning, I was flipping between the two and was listening to the earlier program on 1700 then flipped to 1460 for about 10 minutes before remembering how bad that program is now that Heather is on it. When I first heard you two after playing the Prohm press conference, I thought it was just some kind of short blurb summing it up for local radio. Took 5 minutes to realize it was a new program.

Will turn you on for the 10-15 minute drive to work. I did not hear a single Iowa mention though but plenty of talk about ISU ;)

Speaking of Brinson, is he back in the area then or is he still in Arkansas or Alabama or whatever backwoods place he went?

Are you planning on talking about some national or local sports only? Travis & Heather rarely talk about sports, & when they do it's all local.

Jimmy B is back full time now from Arkansas. We'll talk mostly sports. That's why people listen to sports talk radio on my opinion. People can find other avenues if they want to hear beer talk or conversation on relationships.

We'll keep it local when it's the topic of the day (plenty of Hawkeye & Cyclone talk) , but hit national topics as well.

Feel free to plug Tuesday's With Torbee and the 12 Saturdays podcast. ;)

I'd be happy to be a guest. People like me.

Brinson didn't last long in Arkansas apparently. Was that only a temporary thing?

Chicago has the market on sports talk radio.(670 The Score)
You have Spiegel, Bernstein, and Rosenberg for starters to
meet the Jewish demographic. You have Goff and Holmes
to hit the African-American demographic. You have Boers
to meet " the white guy who has no clue" demographic.

Bottom Line : You need a strong radio signal to cover the Midwest
if Des Moines is going to make a dent in the sports market.

Except in Des Moines, you ONLY need the "white guys who have no clue" demographic. That's also why there are so many 'Clone fans there.

I'd listen if I could get it in Sioux City.

It's either Mike and Mike or the local show, which talks more about the GPAC than it does d1 or pro sports.

I will be a regular caller, I have much more insight into the world of sports than the rest of these dolts on HROT. Maybe you can do a segment called "Man Talk" and I can give my take on sports through a mans point of view, something most of these liberal tuttie fruitie's on HROT couldn't begin to comprehend..

Well between Mika and Joe, and Charlie Rose, Gayle and Norah/ FAUX 's America's NewsRoom and then "Perry Mason" I just don't have time for local AM sports talk any more........and I really don't miss it, either.

Trent I call in and talk to Marty and Kenny weekly, in fact I've talked to you when you answer the phones for them. I go by the name of Pete. I brought up the point of Brady taking a dive on deflate gate because if it came out the Hoodie knew, he would be suspended a year due to his second cheating scandal.

Heather us the worst. Travis is alright and is always mocking that dumb broad....giving Sean shit constantly is really old. Only time I really enjoy morning rush is with Bruno every Thursday. All in all it's pretty painful with Ross out.

I'll definately be tuning in. Hallelujah

I caught a little of the show on the way in to work this morning. I got to hear Tom K talk some Iowa football and he does a good job. I like that Tom is pretty honest with how he sees it. I will probably check out the show some more.

1460 AM show has gone straight Clone since Heather joined. Pollard yesterday, John Walters yesterday, Niang today, endless Hoiberg talk. Good lord, at least attempt to make it 50/50. Time to flip over to 1700 in the AM.

Yes, yes, and yes. I'll give it a shot for sure. This should be pretty low hanging fruit for 1700.

But if I listen to 1700, how am I going to keep up-to-date on beer and trading cards?

1460 ruined a good morning show when they broke it up. The current show simply does not work for me at all.

I still enjoy Thursday mornings w/ Bruno. Rest of the week...1700

For whatever reason I still listen to the kxno morning show. Probably because I get up so damn early there is nothing else on. However, I couldn't stand "Jimmy B" when he was on KXNO and stopped listening to their show on the drive home. Seemed like he did zero prep and like to refer to people such as us "internet dopes". Newsflash: the same dudes who are members of sports message boards are the same dudes who listen to sports talk radio. Don't insult your audience if you can't even do it in an entertaining way.

Heather has actually become not that bad when she has Travis firing on all cylinders. She's loosened up and can be funny here and there. I do tire of them picking on the kid Sean when they aren't exactly a couple of geniuses either. Although Sean does irritate me tremendously when he does that mumble/stupid voice, "you're not talking about the hawkeyes." Another newsflash, don't make fun of sports fans who want to hear a local sports show talk about a local sports team. You might just do your own thing and talk about sometimes humorous off topics, but don't alienate the listeners. I know I turn off the radio whenever they do that.
