New Suriaon Article

"Now he weighs around 130 pounds."
Let the college weight speculation begin.

"I think I will know where I’m going by the end of July," Suriano said. "Or at least I will be very close to my decision. Right now, I swear I am not leaning anywhere. I have to balance it out and think it through."
Is this a normal timeline? The article says his father has a schedule for coaches to come make a pitch, but no mention of campus visits. Maybe those are in July?

I'm not certain there is a "normal" timeline... I think its safe to say that he will visit the campuses of the schools he is serious about. I hope he is dreaming about 15K fans screaming for him!

Some guys like to make the decision before Fargo, which usually means they decide 7-10 days into July. I will agree there is not a normal timeline, but to be sure this is not an abnormal timeline.

Great article! I really like our chances with him. Iowa and the HWC our a great place for lightweights to train. 1) You have great coaches in TnT. 2) The best workout partners in Ramos, McDon, Dennis, Metcalf, Gilman, Clark, and Laux. 3) He can take a redshirt if he wishes. 4) Two high level recruits in Mejia and Renteria the following year coming in to push you even more. Not to many programs can offer all that.

"Official Visits" can't start until the opening day of classes of the senior year.

I laid something out very similar to these thoughts today:

Doesn't have to be "official" to visit. There will be a lot of commitments before "officials" are allowed. A lot of programs, Hawks included, like to bring groups of guys in for officials together. Some in those groups have already committed and I think they are used to create excitement and help recruit the guys still deciding.
I know we had taken unofficials, were planning to take all of my kid's officials, including a late August trip to IC, and were told by a lot of folks during the process that we would never make it to all 5. They were right. Point being a lot if,not most, know where they're going before any official visit and have visited before then unofficially.
