Nick Niemann wiil not be starting next year not trying to be mean but it just isn't going to happen

I have no inside info, but from what I see on KO coverage, I would not bet against Amani Jones being one of our LBs. Barrington Wade could be in that mix, too.

I feel like AJ will take over that DE spot. There won't be any excuses of him still learning the system.
it has nothing to do with not knowing the system or phiscally ready, its more about Hesse will be a 4th year starter and has done nothing wrong to lose his spot, sometimes its good to have more than 1 or 2 players that can be a starter at any positions.

so who do you see starting, remember Jewell started as a RSFR, Ben played ST as a TRUE FR then started at the OLB spot as a true SO and he was a WR when he came in, don't see any reason why Nick can't start.

Many have said that yes, it does have to do with learning responsibilities and such. Kirk has said so as well.

with a full year under his belt then Spring pactice and summer workout not knowing the responsibility would be on Epenesa, but people keep talking about how he has a high FB IQ. the coaches have plenty of time to teach him and Doyle has another 10 months to put him thru his strength and conditioning. it would not hurt my feelings to see Epenesa get up to 285 lbs,

It should be good but I'm scared about our LB crew. There will be some growing pains I would assume.

Good point. The 2010 season was a letdown despite returning Clayborn, Ballard, Sash and Hyde. Losing Angerer and Edds took some time to replace.

Everyone assumed coming off the Orange Bowl with the returning talent we had would be guaranteed a January bowl and we ended with an 8-5 record, losing several games on the final drive by not getting a stop. Iowa's defensive style requires good linebacker play. Jewel and Niemann won't easily be replaced.

Don't forget about Davion(?) Nixon over at Iowa Western. I could see him taking snaps as a DT

Writing off 2017 eh? "On paper" prognosticators
are an interesting bunch.

voicing an opinion has nothing to do with "prognosticating" any thing. I started this thread to distract the usual Debbie downers and poster lamenting the POOR RECRUITING.

things can and do change but it better that the same o same o after a loss.

I know some get tired of the stats but when they pertain to the OL/DL/LB adding their height and weights it shows how the recruiting as changed, the OL/DL/LB are bigger and more ready to play at those 3 positions.

What's that old saying about putting lipstick on a pig!
It's just weird to read about a future line-up in the midst of a current BIG campaign with kids that might not even be in school in two years.

this is next years potential starting line up to side track all the negative posting about what the team is doing. sure things can change players can leave better players may come in But for now its all we as fans have to go on.

BB 1st exhibition is still aways off, there has been no FB commitment news. so things were getting boring.

You know, no one is making you live on this board but you.

I probably shouldn't of said he won't start but I do know Ben and JJ were men playing against boys.coming out of HS and Nick was very good just not near the level of those 2.
