Is it too cold to visit in early May?

Blackmore's Night is going to do a concert in Homer, NY on May 1st. Ritchie had a heart attack about year or so ago. Always wanted to see his medieval folk-rock project band with Candice, his smoking-hot wife, on lead vocals. Might not get another chance.

Anyway, I could fly to Rochester, which is about halfway between Homer and Niagara Falls, and make a little vacation out of it.

But is that a good time of year to see the falls?

Damn, the "Maid of the Mist" boat tours don't open until mid-May due to possible ice conditions.

Guess early May is gonna be cold....

Average temps on set dates are easy to track down. Same w/ future forecasts. You get can get a good idea of what to expect within a minute or two.

Or you can start a thread on here and have to deal with assholes like myself :)

It's not really about average temps. It's about whether various things to do will be open. Like how I just figured out the Maid of the Mist will not be sailing on my dates.

I mean...the first sentence of your post was this.

And I ended the post with, "But is that a good time to see the falls?"

We drove the entire length of Cape Cod early in the season and nothing was open when we got to Provincetown.

Light traffic, though.

Oh, and here are the tour dates:

Enjoy the show and enjoy the Falls. They Are amazing. Maybe head to Duff’s in Buffalo for some kick-ass wings.

Niagara Falls, the town, is a shithole. So is Rochester. You should be okay with the weather, likely in the 60s during the day.

What about Homer?

The reason that Blackmore's Night is playing there is that all venues must fit the theme.

Here is a pic of the Homer Center for the Arts where the concert will be held:

I’ve been to Homer, AK but not the one in New York. I got nothing.

Has anyone ever paid you to STFU?

We did it a few years ago over Memorial Day and if I recall correctly it was pleasantly warm.

Went up to Lewiston to see Head and the Heart. Awesome venue up there

It will be cold.

Canada has 9 months of winter and 3 months of poor skating.
The weather in that part of New York isn't actually all that different from the midwest. It's probably colder in Iowa. They get more snow though.
