We paddled, swam, hunted, and fished this area big as kids. Cool spot with Apalachicole Nat. Forest bumping up to the south and west.

A sinkhole that drained Cascade Lake left the cypress trees appearing larger than before with the full trunks exposed Tuesday, June 27, 2023.

This pic shows Lake Bradford which we wore out… skiing, paddling fishing, swimming. Roughly a mile in diameter, we would swim across that ole gal.

Yep, they can empty a lake. One of the best large mouth bass fishing spots in the country, Lake Jackson north of town, drains periodically.

Notice the stumps in the first picture of trees that were cut during an earlier period of lower water level, contrasted with the “bathtub rings” that mark more recent water levels.
