Night of Conflict results

Tate N. beat a pretty fair kid Ryder Rogotzke (No. 8 nationally at 182 and Greco World Team member) from Minny 5-4, and little Ayala beat Brandon Morvari 3-0, another Minny kid that beat him previously in Freestyle at Cadets in April, and Morvari was the Junior Freestyle runner-up in July.

My hometown of Spencer had the most individual winners, all on the girls side. All 3 won by fall. HWT. Olivia Huckfelt stuck Savannah Sistad of Creston, who beat Huckfelt for a girls AAU State title or something similar last time they met I believe. Olivia also had 15 homers or so last year playing 3rd base for the Tigers. She's a junior this year I believe.

2 Frost brothers from Dowling by way of Louisiana rolled also. They are both 3x State Champs and have committed to Columbia. They followed Ryan Finch to Dowling after he was an Assistant with them from Holy Cross in La. (Finch is former ISU and 2x NAIA Champ at Grandview).

Ryak Finch=The Pride of Safford Arizona
T.J. Miller, Wartburg National Champ and current Head Coach at Loras, was also at Holy Cross in Louisiana for several years before returning to Iowa to Coach at Loras.

They've brought a few of those La. boys along to wrestle in Iowa collegiately. Holy Cross got hit pretty hard by Hurricane Katrina, and their wrestling room was a tent for a good stretch. Crazy stuff.

Lyden who won 7-6 over Magayna is a goofs commit. Lyden going to be a SR. and Magayna only going to be a Soph. so pretty good showing by Max.

Rogotzke had two wins over Arnold this summer.

Fox from Osage is a pretty tough under the radar kid.

Lyden wrestled with basically one leg all but 30 secs of the match. Max couldn't even hold him down (which is his specialty) with Lyden being injured. I would have expected Max to be much more quick/athletic even before the injury. Almost looked like Max gave him too much respect.

I don't want to that to sound like I don't think Max can be good/special, but Saturday night wasn't a good showing in my opinion.

So the guy that manhandled Kueter and barely beat Max by one point as a sophomore and Max didn’t have a good showing? I’m worried about Kueter now. Max did all the work. Max wins what he wants to win. He’s in a tournament every weekend it seems. Four timer with ease.

Where’s he going to college?

He doesn’t know yet. He tells me different schools every weekend or he just doesn’t talk wrestling. The kid grew up at wrestling tournaments, he doesn’t care to talk about it. He last told me tOSU.

I do believe he’ll be at the uppers 84-97 by the time he’s a senior.

Correction on Huckfelt, well 2 actually.........she is only a Sophomore, and she lost to a Senior gal named Milley Peach in the State Finals last year, not Sistad (Soph. too).

She's been ahead of the curve wrestling for several years, but I believe took some time away to concentrate on Softball, she's darn good at both. Her brother Logan was a State qualifier at 220 last year as a Soph.

aaannnd she led in walks, because she basically bombed the ball over the fence at will. She never took time off from wrestling. She plays fall ball for a club out of Minnesota. Fun Fact: In the Iowa AAU tournament several years ago, she beat her Brother for the District Championship...he later beat her in the state tournament.

Milley Peach was dominant at her weigth class last year. She was a club teammate of one of high school girl wrestlers. Peach was not only a good wrestler, but an excellent teammate off of the mat too!

I didn't know until yesterday that she played for that Minnesota team. Good for her. I thought I was told her interest in wrestling may have been waning in the last couple of years (started in 6th grade or so?), but apparently not. She is athletic for her size (don't want to speculate on her weight), guess at the rate she's going she may have to pick one sport for College, cause she's likely to get offers for both.

Her brother plays Baseball and Football too, good to see these kids play multiple sports. Logan had a pretty good year wrestling last year at 220, don't think it's likely Olivia beats him anymore.......ha!

Yeah, that's what you read. What are you confused about? Dude was on one leg the whole match.
