No ICU beds in Montgomery, AL...

I don't know if it is resources, but Alabama was one of the states that had to be shamed into shutting some stuff down, and their governor is a Trump sycophant.
200 Covid19 deaths in Texas on Wednesday. But, yeah, we got this thing beat, and time get things wide open again.

Yes, not sure why state leaders aren't checking in regularly on HROT.

Why should they need to? If some random person on HROT can come up with a fundamental solution, and they cannot identify the common-sense steps, that probably indicates gross incompetence and they need to be voted out. Regardless of political party.

Shut everything down and head back to our basements until there is a vaccine!

This is the problem with some of you people, you treat this the same way you treat politics, everything is extreme. Totally open or totally closed. The issue we have is that there is no leadership at the top. The are ways to handle this and it's not by going to the extreme.

If we were dealing with tornado's, would you just stay in your basement or never go to the basement. I would say that both answers are stupid. The real answer is, you protect yourself when there's a risk. You're making a joke of the people who stay in their basement, while you're just a joke on the other extreme side. Our president has been a joke on both sides. Never has he been in the middle trying to make a logical decision. And you're dumb enough to follow him.

After looking into this, it appears that most of the people going to the Montgomery area hospitals aren't from the Montgomery area. Alabama isn't a very big state, and doesn't have that many big urban centers. It looks like a lot of people from the Montgomery area are actually going to Birmingham, which is only an hour north of Prattville. It also looks like a lot of people in between Mobile and Montgomery are choosing Montgomery.

I don't know how many beds are available in Mobile or Birmingham. Mobile has been hit relatively hard because of the proximity to NOLA.

Alabama's Governor, Kay Ivey, has been more reactive than proactive.

Stop posting garbage and you won't be called out for it.

Ditto to you. Dont assume you know me. I've been vocally anti-trump, so you lumping me in with that group is just ignorant. I'm also disgusted by the level or irrational panic in our media and the one size fits all perspective so many have in terms of how to address this virus.

It is when you just cherry pick bad news from one area of one state and ignore clear progress elsewhere.
The whole point is there is no "clear progress" if you're not willing to take the steps to prevent an outbreak. Demonstrating clear and absolute disdain for all steps needed to protect people is phuvcking moronic. Made reprehensible while engaging those same steps privately.

Montgomery is 60% black. Blacks are 30% more likely to get covid in Alabama. Also, blacks typically have more systemic disease issues and also are longer term smokers. So yeah, they are a hot spot and are overwhelming the system. Death rate is also higher amongst black folks than other races. More serious illness.

I've lived in Alabama for a long time now. The rural areas are hard hit. Not sure why Mobile and Birmingham's numbers are so high. Huntsville (2nd or 3rd largest population center) is at less than 2.5%. This link is a really good site to help understand what the numbers are:
