No more draftkings commercials during hawkeye games...ESPN yanks them...

Well, all it means is more air time for Fan Duel. I'm pretty sick of listening to Mr. $2 million man. At least as an adult I can keep things in perspective, but my kids think they're gonna be millionaires as soon as they turn 21 because they know so much about sports. Makes me want them to bring back more Viagra commercials.

Anybody that thinks they can make money playing Draft Kings should read this article first.

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/artic...h-to-win-money-playing-daily-fantasy-football

Didn't read the article. Is it still true that you usually lose money when you gamble? Or have these businesses figured out a way to make money while all their customers make money? Is it advertising? Are there enough ads on these pay-sites to cover the losses of the unsuccessful gamblers? Or are they only targeting the gamblers who know enough about sports to always win?

Edit: It should be noted that this was a very snarky series of questions.

Here's the synopsis: only 1.3% of players return a profit and "the top 10 players combine to win an average of 873 times daily."

I understand recreational drug use. I understand how that can lead to drug addiction. It's a tangible high. It does not last, but at that point there are very few pretenses (just as many lies, but fewer pretenses). I do not understand gambling. How stupid do you have to be to believe that you're going to win when you gamble? People don't think they're going to make it big because they start doing drugs.

I am curious as to why they are illegal in Iowa and not some other "conservative" states in regards to gambling. I have never taken the time to research it.

Hey, the chicks in those Viagra commercials are getting younger and more attractive each time I see them.....

Besides, who doesn't like a good Viagra or the latest pill for erectile dysfunction commercial during a TV timeout for an 11 AM football game.............Heck you combine those with a couple Cougar.com commercials and you've got yourself a nice little minute and a half of good, old-fashioned, quality family entertainment for your commercial break.

Great point. I've only ever had one question though, what at the end of those Viagra commercials are the man and woman sitting in separate tubs? Seems a bit counter productive based on the product being advertised.

You've never seen the follow on commercial? It's a pill for premature ejaculation.

Buying into a fantasy football league, IMO, is not gambling.

DraftKings & FanDuel are definitely gambling IMO.

Football's one of the few things this family ever watches, and the commercials make it nigh impossible. It's disgusting.

And this daily fantasy craze, like all gambling operations (which this clearly is) is nefarious. I hope I can teach my boys well enough to see past these marketing campaigns to the cold reality underneath.

The tub is a cialis commercial. Read a business case report on viagra and cialis a few years ago. Viagra had a narrow window after you take it where it works. Apparently women were turned off because it doesn't take into account forplay, they felt pressured. Cialis on the other hand has a longer period of when it works, so they targeted women. Hence a couple doing romantic things, i.e. Tub, holding hands, sitting on couch.
No they aren't premature ejaculation pills. Not sure if serious. They are erectile dysfunction drugs. Big difference.

You're right, I got my boner pills mixed up. In any case I always chuckle when they say seek immediate medical attention for an erection lasting more than 4 hours. Damn straight I'd have to seek medical attention, probably need stiches where my wife hit me over the head with a cast iron skillet!

Draft Kings and Fan Duel are creating the same number of mostly younger guys who think they will get rich off football as the poker craze a decade ago did.

I can't wait for the investigations to begin, and all the big money winners are actually cross-over employees from other sites. Then we'll find out the different sites are exchanging information...

I thought ESPN/Fox et al were smarter than this, but apparently with subscription rates dropping, they'll whore themselves out to anybody apparently.

That's a good analogy, except I think a lot more guys actually won money play Texas Hold 'Em than DK & FD.

You could make good money in online poker off of just a couple of idiots who didn't know what they were doing. But winning while playing big tournaments was not a solid strategy...which is much closer to what you're doing on the draft sites: you can't take money from just 1 or 2 guys, you have to outpace the entire field.
