Another catchall thread started for Non-Big Ten news.

Agot Makeer (2025 #4) to SC? She was suppose to announce her commit at noon yesterday according to another board. However, it looks like noon today instead.

With Skim Milkey putting out this SC prediction, it probably is an indicator of who it is.
Hopefully she's not headed to the B1G (Michigan State).

I would much rather her go to Michigan State than SC or UCONN. One big fish at MSU is better than adding more to the depth of SC or UCONN come tournament time.

I agree I don’t like MSU, but I dislike SC & UCONN, even more

South Carolina gets commitment from No. 4 recruit Agot Makeer

In my book, that doesn't work very well.

We already got beat by MI St this year. Rather not deal with her for 4 years in a row in the B1G (1 big fish or not).

That one MI St loss this year may have cost us a few seeds in the BTT. Now think about that possibility every year for 4 years.

With her being at SC or UConn, we may never have to deal with her one time. SC or UConn may be knocked off by a team we match up against better.

Having all those 5* stars is certainly something to worry about as I'm not discounting that, but it isn't the end all. It's about placing the right people in the right system that can go a long way to surprise people. Think we have demonstrated the last two years. Think if we had Megan G. on our team last year, we'd might have won that NATTY. She again is not a 5 star. The point being, it's the system and the players in that system working together that can rise above all that 5 star talent on a less than optimal system.

For those reasons, would rather take those odds of not playing against her one time in her career vs 4 times at MI St. Anyways, that's how the process works for me. It's ok to have a different view on it. However, I'm sticking with my odds gun.

Yes, but, theoretically I’m not at all sure Megan G would have been The difference maker and really, the Big 10 at this point, is….

If we are going to win it, we will have to beat the same teams, it is what it is…

Evaluations for Agot Makeer at Montverde Academy
"Makeer caught my attention at the Nike Tournament of Champions last December in Phoenix, Arizona. She went toe-to-toe with classmate Addie Deal in a fantastic matchup where Makeer's full offensive arsenal was on display. As a result, Makeer has ascended into the top 10 discussion in North America. Makeer's game is built upon her skill set as a big guard capable of making long-range jumpers or attacking the paint as a playmaker. She remains one of the best-kept secrets nationally in terms of being mentioned as a potential All-American caliber recruit. That could very well change in the next 12 months with All-American performances, events that should include Makeer as a participant. Makeer will need to continue getting stronger to have a significant impact at the elite levels of college basketball."

Agot Makeer is #4 while Addie Deal is #9 on 247Sports.
Agot is listed a CG/Wing and Addie is the listed or plays the same positions of 1-4 spots.
Agot is listed at 6'1" while Deal is listed at 6'0".

Hope besides not having Agot in the B1G to haunt us for 4 years and going to SC instead is that she also has just enough added wing height to cause McKenna Woliczko to look away from SC. Woliczko is listed as a wing in some places also, although Woliczko is only an inch taller than Agot. If that isn't enough to scare McKenna, then the other 2025 SC commit just might. That is Ayla McDowell and she is a 6'2" 5 star wing. SC is one of our top contenders for McKenna.

Hoping these 2 commits make McKenna feel a little uncomfortable with her playing options at SC to the point of finding another home. Of our last two classes, only 4 star Teagan M. is a possible threat to 5 star McKenna. So this could have multiple implications to help the Hawks, ihmo.
