Whichever team is poised to be a Q1 game. (Iowa has also had 2 home and 1 away for this so my assumption is that it will be a road game).

What follows are opponents or possible opponents along with their NET rankings on April 5, 2022.

The assumption is that the Gavitt game is a road game.

Iowa is due for a home game in the ACC-B1G challenge. Will be playing a team who hosted this past year

ACC opponents last year
BC - Off last year, but were on road two years ago.
Clemson - road
Duke - road
Florida St - road
Georgia Tech - home
Louisville - road
Miami - road
NC St - home
North Carolina - home
Notre Dame - road
Pittsburgh - home
Syracuse - home
Virginia - home
Virginia Tech - road
Wake - home

So our potential opponents include
BC (not sure what they do to teams who skip a year)
Georgia Tech
NC St
North Carolina
Pitt
Syracuse
Virginia
Wake

So looking like it’ll be UVA or Cuse (outside chance of Wake)

Iowa has played DePaul at home, Seton Hall at home, and Marquette on the road for the Gavitt games right? So a road game it appears. Creighton? Butler? Xavier?

Boooooring of those two. Plus we just played both recently. I'm not saying you are wrong at all but Syracuse seems to have fallen off a cliff and Virginia is just a hard watch.

My guess is BC or Wake. I will presume we will be picked 9th or 10th pre season in the B1G.

Just saying this, they don't always alternate home and away because otherwise we would be drawing from the same 8 teams every year. So there is a chance that it's a road game and it's with a team that you didn't list.

Most of the matchups would be boring. Aesthetically, only UNC or Wake would be fun.

I proposed this on the main Rivals Board, but it's probably time for the P5/7 whatever to do a "challenge" across all conferences.

That's just a couple extra games and would definitely help to boost Iowa's SOS in the OOC portion of our schedule.

I mean I would sign up for this over a couple extra games against NC A&T and SC State:

ACC: Louisville (or whoever our ACC/B10 challenge game is)
Big East: Creighton (Whoever our BE challenge game is)
Big 12: TCU
Pac 12: Washington
SEC: Texas A&M

I mean f***, win or lose, that definitely would be a boost to our schedule. I say go for it, if you're Kevin Warren. Get the conferences to join together and set up a full scale challenge among all the "major" conferences. It's not that many games, even though you might be sacrificing a couple (a couple at MOST) home games...........).

November 25 is looking to be a pretty big sports day. Hawkeyes and Huskers on the gridiron; women's basketball against a major conference team (possibly but not likely UConn); men's basketball playing power conference team; Yanks and Limeys on the pitch.

Uh... I didn't think about this. I may not make it through this day. Especially if the US is playing at the same time as the Iowa football game. If Kinnick's cell service is poor that day, I'll lose my crap.

All three USMNT group games are at 1 PM CST. It's likely a problem.

Hawkeye football game vs Usmnt soccer is not even comparable. Gridiron football over pitch futbol... all day, any day.

World Cup that comes every 4 years in against a nation that still can't believe we could draw a game with them vs a regular season game that happens every year.

As George Washington eluded to- consider yourself American above all other things.

That said, I still stated I will be at Kinnick.

Just dropping this here. TCU on Thanksgiving weekend will very likely be a ranked opponent. Obviously a lot can change between now and then, but returning all 5 starters from a very salty 9 seed that was very close to knocking off Arizona.

We could schedule a game against Drake or UNI in CHA, what are we afraid of, losing?

That's at least 5 games in the pre-B1G season against power 5 opponents. That's 3 more than this past season. I am glad to see a more challenging preseason next year.

Weird. Cal should be the closest on that list to being a worthy opponent. Guess I'm just too old school, giving the Pac12 too much respect in general, over freaking TCU. JFC.

Cal is easily the worst current program out of the 3. No idea what they return and have coming in, but TCU was in tournament last year and Clemson has been in recently as well.

TCU's is highly likely to be preseason ranked, if not top 15. Clemson should be competitive and Cal is a Power 6 program as well.

Iowa's non-con schedule will be very good this year: Iowa St, Big East in Gavitt, ACC/B1G, and this tournament. That's 5 games against Power 6 teams.
