NORTH LIBERTY — A North Liberty man faces three counts of indecent exposure.

According to North Liberty police criminal complaints, on two occasions — Dec. 17 and Jan. 14 — 42-year-old Bradley A. Williams was seen touching himself in his apartment window. Police said one of the victims was a 12-year-old girl, who told officers she was scared and offended by Williams’ actions.

Another victim told police Williams made eye contact with her during his actions and that he had been seen touching himself on at least two other occasions.

Indecent exposure is a serious misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail.

WTF, some kids peep into his home and get him arrested for playing with himself. The world is upside down. Those kids should be sent to jail and the parents sued.

I'm not sure how much is snark and how much fact, but there is some serious truth to this.

Some basics: Do we want people intentionally masturbating at their windows in front of children? Of course not.
Do we really want to punish people who masturbate in locations where someone might be able to see in? I hope not.

Is there some way to resolve this without publicly humiliating and labeling him as a pervert pariah? Apparently not, not in our system. There just is no way of discerning facts, investigating things like intent, without making it front page news that everyone overreacts to.

People have become too protective of children, my generation seems to be taking it to all new levels. I'm not saying we can't or shouldn't protect children from public masturbators, but we act as if the children will need counseling for the rest of their lives for this type of thing.

I would suggest drapes or blinds when it's sexy time. What's so hard about that?

No where in the article does it say he was masturbating-- just touching himself. He could have had his hands down his pants scratching himself (like all dudes do).
