Northwestern favored by 5 tonight

Probably regret saying this, but I would much rather be facing the Mildcats. The only team they've beaten down the stretch has been Nebraska at home. The Bugeaters have been on a three game roll entering the tournament, beating some decent teams.

The Huskers will be a tough out.

That may have been the most perfect game played during Fran's tenure. I think the slight majority picked Davidson to win that game.

Many were picking Iowa to knock out Gonzaga in round 2. Iowa didnt play very well, but that Gonzaga team was very good. Bounced by Duke in the elite 8

Yeah. That was another disappointing finish for sure. They were never really in that game after the first 10 minutes or so going down by 17 by halftime.

That Gonzaga team had Domantas Sabonis (2 time NBA All Star) as a freshman coming off the bench. Gonzaga beat UCLA in the next round (The Bruins had Norman Powell and Kevon Looney - current NBA players as well as the Alford boys). And then, the Duke team that beat Gonzaga had all these players that played or still play in the NBA - Tyus Jones, Quinn Cook, Justise Winslow, Jahlil Okafor, Marshall Plumlee, and Grayson Allen.

God look bad our psyche has been destroyed by past failures!
We are honestly sitting here discussing whether or not we want the 12 or 13 seed in our first game! Sad. We should be instead discussing how bad we will beat either one of those poser teams.....sadly this is what getting our hopes up has done to us as a fan base..

Oh they were beaten by a better team for sure. I think it was the fact that Iowa was never really in the game after 10 minutes in that was disappointing.

No game in the NCAAs is a gimmie, not even a 16-1 matchup. Several 16 seeds have thrown the fear of God into 1 seeds in the past, and after years of knocking UMBC finally came up with the first upset.

There's a reason why 12 seeds are considered 'trendy' upset picks. Over the past 10 years, 12 seeds have knocked off 5 seeds 15 times (about a 38% success rate). 13 seeds have defeated 4 seeds 8 times, good for a 20% success rate. And 14 seeds have beaten 3 seeds 6 times, or 15% of the time.

Iowa fans should not be scared, but some concern is warranted.

The BC/Wake game on right now is our game tomorrow, just no gimmes this time of year.

There were pundits last year who thought Grand Canyon would upset the Hawks. We destroyed them. (GC, not the pundits)

Was it Aaron Whites senior yr where we got thumped by a shitty Penn St team in the B1G tourney and then beat Davidson by 30+ in the first round of the NCAA's?

Davison was a nobody team of midgets and then Iowa got throttled by a very good Gonzaga team, so just a standard 1 win and 1 loss in NCAA tourney.

At least this year's team can play defense, though post defense vs the Cockburns and Eddy's of the NCAA is a little bit dicey.

Ok. Just sayin conference tourney results mean very little in terms of ncaa tourney performance. The guy i quoted thinks different.

I wonder how many games Nebraska has lost this season where they had a 10 point or more lead? Has to be quite a few. Their failure to close out games has been astounding. And it seems like they have pretty good talent too. They make a lot of poor decisions late game, I have seen this in many of their games this year.

It is amazing and clearly lack of discipline when they have the lead otherwise they are pretty good team
