This is my first trip to Northwestern. Are there places to park around the stadium? Or is there public transportation close to the stadium? Thanks for any help you can give me!!

You can take the L to within a half-mile of the stadium. Just get off and follow all of the folks who look as though they are going to the game. It the Purple line in Evanston. The Chicago Red line takes you to Evanston.

Very limited parked by Ryan Field.

Most are stuck parking by the lake and busing to Stadium. It’s a mess and expect long lines.

Will not go back there.

I have been going to the Iowa games at Ryan field for years and have always parked in a parking garage downtown Evanstan and rode the buses to and from the game. Good food and beer in downtown Evanston and definitely not that big of a deal nor is it that long of a wait. People wait much longer for the train at Kinnock or trying to get back downtown Chicago than the stadium buses. Laugh at people who think you should be out of the stadium and back to your car in short time. Relax and enjoy the day.

Agreed, I’ve never got that mindset with people. They are just itching to get away from a sporting event they spent money, time and effort getting to, but the 4th quarter hits and some sort of anxiety creeps in.

Never had a big delay taking school busses they use from lakefront lots. I think it’s a great road trip with the City available Friday and Saturday nights.

It you're not tailgating and the weather is nice you can find street parking about 3/4 mile west of stadium along Central. There's actually a couple of places to grab a drink nowadays (Blue Stone, Ten Mile).

Good info for parking, taking shuttles, taking trains, etc.

I've always parked in a downtown garage (pay) and taken the shuttle buses (free). Never had any problems other then it is hard to tell the lines for the buses after the game from the usual crowd exiting the stadium. It's pretty crowded around the stadium after the game. But just ask folks and they are helpful. I usually take Dempster towards the lake until I get to cross streets for downtown. Then get on Chicago Avenue or Forest towards downtown. Dempster usually flows faster then the other streets from the freeway/Skokie to downtown Evanston.

I really like downtown Evanston. People should check it out if they have time. Lots of good shopping, restaurants and bars. Edzo's is incredible but there is a big line on game days. Absolutely the best burger I've ever had. Good Chicago dogs too.
