Has scored 6 points after 12 minutes v. Loyola of Maryland, 273 on Kenpom. Just described as a sneaky 1-9 team. Now leading 20-6.

I think the Mildcats are going to be without Olah for 2-3 weeks with a foot injury. He is one of the better big men in the B1G.

Northwestern has to beat some good teams in the B1G and finish well because they have beaten zero tourney teams in non-conference. The are 0-1 against the top 100 RPI teams. Their preseason schedule is going to hurt them when it comes time to pick the at large tourney teams. I could see a B1G team with two more overall loses being picked over Northwestern. What an embarrassing preseason schedule.

Northwestern this year is Iowa three years ago. Young talent. Cake preseason schedule. Narrowly miss the NCAA due to the cake schedule.

They are a solid young team. As a Iowa fan its hard to stomach that a couple of their best players (McIntosh, Lindsey) both almost picked the Hawks. Iowa finished 2nd for both. It would be really nice to have McIntosh especially next season.

Iowa did not finish 2nd for Mcintosh. Being a close friend of his family, he didn't even really consider us after talking with a former player for iowa who played with his aau organization. He told bryant that Fran was a " maniac."

I had a similar thought, but then i looked back at Iowa's schedule that year. The Hawks played Wichita State, ISU and UNI. Not a great schedule by any means, but better than playing only one decent team, like Northwestern has done.

The Wildcats will likely have to go 11-7 in the Big Ten to have a chance at the tourney. Really dumb scheduling by Collins.

They also only get Michigan St, Purdue, and Iowa once so their opportunities for big wins are considerably small.

Good to see you again chane. We need your sanity around these parts.

Yeah their non-con is not good. Iowa also currently has 1 top 100 RPI win (Wichita State) but 2-3 other teams could reasonably move into the Top 100 as the year goes on, improving Iowa's resume. Marquette and Florida State are decent bets to move into Top 100 once conference play starts. Northwestern has Missouri, Virginia Tech and Depaul who are close to the Top 100 as non-con wins. Those teams are not likely to win enough games to move into the Top 100.

I don't see Collins staying long in Evanston. If he can hit the 20 win mark and make the tourney, he will get a lot of phone calls from bigger programs with less rigid academic standards. Wonder who gets the nod if Wojo and Collins resurrect their respective programs as Coach K's retirement draws closer. It seems Marquette is playing much better since our matchup. Will be interesting to see how they fare in the Big East.

Yes chane...glad you and Attack brought this up and some others did too about NW's preseason schedule. It's safe...the schedule, not too risky and not NW's fault but a road V over an 8-4 Va Tech was one the weakest ACC teams I saw play in the challenge and as another poster said will be hard pressed to move into the Top 100.

NW will be tough to beat at home and we'll see early on that first week in January just how tough at home NW will be playing Maryland and OSU and w/o Olah....ouch.
