So sick of these teams year in and year out that Fran puts together that are just such a freaking mismatch against solid athletic (most big ten) teams. We have a team put together with mainly role players. Outside a few over the years (including Kris) we really lack a sort of athletic type of player. That’s not supposed to be a knock on any of the current players. They’re all good basketball players and shoot well but it’s not the way to put a team together. You need more than just high output guards. We still lack a killer PG or a bruiser down low. Not even any in waiting. It’s like Fran took the Scott Frost mentality of “big ten will have to adjust to us.” Yea…that’s not gonna work. It’s entertaining at times and infuriating at others. It is what it is until FM changes recruiting style or heads to ND. Every year, wash, rinse, repeat.

The frustrating thing about Fran (and Kirk, for that matter) are the glaring weaknesses and the apparent lack of effort to correct them. Maybe they are trying (Fran: defense, Kirk: offense). If they are, it's just not working.

Throw in the nepotism aspects when it comes to roster spots and jobs for family, fans have every right to be frustrated.

There is no comparison between Fran and Frosty. Fran has won in the B1G Ten. Frosty had a losing record every year. Frosty flat out sucked.

You are right about everything else. The bottom line is Iowa isn’t going to improve upon past results unless there’s a commitment to defense. So far, that hasn’t happened with any sort of consistency.

The similarities are kind of amazing when you think about it

I am not a Fran protector at all…..with that said we could be Kansas ranked # 1 and lose and #2 and lose. College sports it happens!

Ironically, we had a defensive lineup in that competed with OSU's athletes and may have held them scoreless. The problem was it was the last 3ish minutes of the half and we won that stretch either 2-0 or 4-2. We could defend but couldn't score.
Lineup was
Ulis
Bowen
Perkins
Connor
Rebraca

The “rinse/repeat” is every year we have several players who have no business on a BIG Ten basketball scholarship. Recruiting has always been the issue.

Wisconsin wins with a bunch of white dudes that play DEFENSE. Of course its an ugly brand of BB. They throw in a player like Davis that has the ability to take over a game in crunch time. Have dirty players like Davison that nut punches and flops that the BIG refuses to suspend. But it works. I can't believe those bastards made final fours and the finals with that style.

Last time I checked - Rutgers, Indiana, Michigan, and Maryland - all had better and more highly recruited athletes than Iowa. You lose one game, man...We're going to lose another one too. The Big 10 is the toughest conference in the NCAA.

I actually like the bombs away offense. When it is working, it's a thing of beauty. When it isn't, well.....

My gripe about Saturday's game is that Sensabaugh had no one guarding him for a large portion of his shots.

This is such a weird take after beating Indiana, Rutgers, Michigan and Maryland.

All teams more athletic than OSU.

Osu had like one guy who could really jump, a white guy that is a great shooter and then a bunch of dudes built like football players who want to put their big ass on you and slowly back you down.

It would never cross my mind to think of OSU as a team who's athleticism stood out. Strong and physical, absolutely.

Osu made shots in their gym and Iowa was sloppy with the ball.

Who?

Mulvey and JO both had other big ten offers. Those are probably the 2 most questionable ships.

Not having another real big that can actually play is a ridiculous failure on Frans part but I don't think that's what you're talking about.

Somewhat agree…that is a good defensive unit; however, Perkins and Rebraca should be able to provide some offensive punch in that group. Or, replace Connor with Sandford for more offense.

Good synopsis. I fully expect Iowa to beat O$U in the re-match in Carver.
