Republicans are promising they will target the president’s son, Hunter Biden, with investigations if they win back the House majority in the midterm elections.
In an op-ed published Friday in the New York Post, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), along with Reps. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) and James Comer (R-Ky.), vowed to investigate Biden’s business dealings, calling them “shady” and citing accusations made in a New York Post article that claimed Hunter Biden used his father’s connections for his deals.
Those claims have been repeatedly proved to be false. That’s not dissuading House Republicans, led by Comer — who is in line for the chairmanship of the House Committee on Oversight and Reform — from preparing for investigations into the president’s son.
As The Post’s Dana Milbank wrote early in May, Comer has made all sorts of false accusations against the Bidens, including:
  • Claiming that Joe and Hunter Biden’s “shady business dealings with Russia and China” were responsible for drug smuggling. Comer said President Biden’s border policies resulted in more fentanyl in the country. In reality, the United States seized more than double the amount of fentanyl this year than it did under President Donald Trump.
  • Claiming that “one of the oligarchs in Russia that Hunter Biden received money from” wasn’t among the “oligarchs who were sanctioned by the Biden administration in Russia.” The Post’s Fact Checker found that the allegation that the younger Biden received funds from the oligarch is based on “flimsiness.”
The GOP leaders’ announcement in the New York Post hints at a congressional term that is likely to be overshadowed by these investigations, very much in the vein of the Republican-led probe into former secretary of state Hillary Clinton and the 2012 attacks on U.S. government facilities in Benghazi, Libya — which failed to find any evidence of wrongdoing.

Whoa. I didn't know about Hunter's wife.

Astonishing how much time and money Republicans waste just to get out of governing.

Also, “Jared Kushner 666 5th Avenue” must be totally above board and not worth taking a peek at?
Republicans do not have, nor have they ever had any legislative agenda other than restricting rights on people, expanding rights for wealthy companies, and cutting taxes. Other than that, it's simply just pandering to an aggrieved base.

So the Republicans have their new Bengahzi to latch onto.
At the root of Benghazi was something legitimate for Congress to look into.
Hunter hearings will allow the US public to see the GOP clown car routine in full swing. If Hunter did something illegal, he is fair game in my opinion. But, Congress has no real role investigating him.

Spot on. They want to control our bodies, the books we read, and the god(s) we worship. Talk about big government.

How is that health care plan coming along GQP?

How about the affordable housing crisis?

How to get gas prices more affordable?

Gun deaths and mass shootings? Anything?
Hunter did coke.

Hunter used hookers.

Hunter lobbied for the Saudis.

Hunter is a pawn of Ukraine, and they are the true threat to world peace, and they made Russia invade them.

See, it pretty much all circles back to Hunter.

I could ask the same of them Dems.

how is the taxing of the rich going?

is there really a plan to make healthcare cheaper, cost shifting doesn’t count.

obviously the Dems are not making gas cheaper.

what legislation was brought up for a vote to lower the number of guns on the street that the Republicans stopped ?

when you control the White House and both the house and senate I think we deserved more. He couldn’t even pass (did he even introduce?) a tax increase on the super rich.

biden has been a miserable failure. He isn’t trump is the beginning and the end of his entire presidency. Totally worthless.

Those names listed above are just trying to deflect from their own sins, and nothing more.

Ladies and gentlemen…todays democrat party has had two years. Done jack squat.

takes a real effort to blow the trump surge in 18 months. It’s like they tried to fail.
Manchin turned out to be a Republican and vowed to vote against anything of any substance the Dems brought forward. So while the Dems technically controlled the Senate, they didn't have the numbers to really do much of anything. And Biden has been a failure at most things other than the Ukraine war. He's done well there, but in using the bully pulpit to push agendas and set direction he's been worthless.

I'd still do it again 100 times over electing Trump, but he's been very poor.

So the "new" current Republican boogeyman is Hunter Biden? What happened to previous GOP boogeymen Anthony Fauci and Liz Cheney? Since Benghazi I'm having trouble keeping up.

At the very least the Dems have ideas just not the votes to implement them especially with the filibuster.

The Republicans don't even have ideas. Had 53 votes in the senate of I remember right and could not rally 50 of them behind a healthcare bill. You had 3 votes to play with and couldn't do it.

Ginni Thomas approves this message...

Yes, we singled her out for no reason whatsoever, we’re just vindictive like that.

Has nothing to do with the MANY connections with 1/6, or other cases heard by the DC where she’s had connections to one side of the case that at the very least create the appearance of conflicts of interest.

I agree....she's fair game. So is Hunter if he benefited from Dad's influence.

Peoples position on this is influenced heavily by politics.
