Sorry for the delay in getting some updates up. Frankly not a whole lot of news today that hasn't already been discussed over the summer in terms of weight gains and such.
Uhl is certainly bulking up, even more than from earlier this summer. Fran mentioned that Uhl could and probably will see some time at the 5 this year when Woodbury is on the bench. That might be the most interesting note of the day, to be honest. Fran also said he expects Woodbury to play 30-36 minutes a game this year, assuming no foul trouble. Fran also said Woody could lead the Big Ten in rebounding.
Talked to Woody about it and he said he has to play smarter and be careful. Feels like he's physically ready for more minutes and felt like he could have played 30 minutes a game last year. FWIW, he averaged 20 minutes a game last season.
Talked to the incoming freshmen today, including Moss. He said he's about 6-6 now. Asked him about his training while he was home this summer and he said he worked out just about every day on skill development at school with a basketball trainer. Really pretty confident group of young players. They are leaning on the vets for advice and there seems to be pretty good chemistry.
Fran said it's too early to tell on which guys will be the first guys off the bench and which guys will be further down or potential redshirt candidates. Fran didn't say anything about redshirts. That's just my thought.
It's an interesting team because there's a core of really veteran guys and then there's a lot of young guys and not a lot of players in the middle. One thing the vets said was this incoming group is very athletic and the team overall is more athletic now.
Will have a lot of stuff going up tonight, so keep an eye on the front page.
