I love a lot of different genres of music from metal to rock to country to pop, but if I ever hear one of those '70s early '80s yacht rock tunes like this, I immediately get a smile on my face.

I introduce them to anyone I can. My wife (no pic) hates them. Michael McDonald and Toto said they helped restart interest in their music when they came out. Kenny Loggins… not a fan of them.
My favorite is how they make Oates look like a raving lunatic.
I don't mind yacht rock during a nice nap, but not while driving. Gotta have some hard driving shit while driving.

I enjoy yacht rock, especially if I'm just trying to mellow out. A lot of the singers had really good voices. 105.7 on Sunday mornings plays it from 6:00 am to 8:00 am.

This is too easy, but: Paul Carrack.
The guy had a hell of a career.
It's a shame that he and Paul Rodgers don't get the credit they deserve.
My biggest complaint with Michael McDonald is that he came in and took over the Doobie Bros. They had their own sound which I liked and he completely changed it IMO. He is a very talented musician though, just not my style.
He was quite prevalent in the 70s as a studio musician and backup singer, which I think suited his talents. But, you are right, that when he took the lead of the Doobies they became a pretty cheesy pop band instead of a good ol' fashioned rock band.
I like Buffett and some early Kenny too, I just don't see much of a leap from that stuff to 'yacht rock'

Their channel is like yacht rock heaven. I have it occasionally in the background through their Roku app. SiriusXMs is cool, but this one goes deep and plays a bunch of stuff I've never heard of that fits the genre.
I can (and usually do) drive in silence. Even for hours late into the night. My family thinks that weird.
