If you have heard this one before I apologize. Alabama is your National Champions!

Five titles in nine years, when this run started the SEC was the best conference. Alabama got the benefit of the doubt this year. It was the first of Nick Sabans titles that his team clearly didn't earn their way in. Remember the 2015 season where the defending national champions lost one game, didn't win their division but were still looked at as the best team?

Point meaning is Alabama has won a title but their perennial whipping boys Georgia punched them in the face last night. Auburn knocked them out . They are losing their sixth coordinator in the last three years.

I will say this now, the BIG earned respect this year. Look at your ranked teams who actually won bowl games. Ohio State#5, Wisconsin#7, Penn State #8, Michigan State and Northwestern top 20.

Nick Saban is 66 years old, I don't see him coaching past five years. He is great but the wear and tear of recruiting and replacing coaches is going to begin to wear him down. He is not an easy man to work for either, the older he gets it seems his patience is getting shorter.

The end is near college football.

Every and I mean every program goes through downturns. And I know the common reply to that is that "it's easier for them to rebuild".

Welp...ask Nebraska, Texas, Florida and Michigan how easy their multiple rebuilds have gone recently.

Saban and Alabama are about as perfect a fit as there has ever been, but I highly doubt he's going to be a lifer type. In fact I'm surprised he's stayed there as long as he has given his past.

My bet is The Next Guy ain't gonna be as perfect a fit. It'll be a tough act to follow for sure because once again at Alabama, the standard has been set.

Five natties in 9 years. I really thought the days were gone when a college football program could dominate like this. In the last 10 years, their AP Poll finish has been - 1,10,1,1,7,4,1,2,4,1.

I don't like 'Bama, and I don't like Saban. But, dam, that is some impressive stuff.

Do you honestly thing he recruits as hard as other schools at this point? I'd say no. ESPN, Fox Sports, etc. etc. already recruit for Alabama.

I think certain schools recruit themselves but you still have to deal with the athlete of today. The use of social media and self promoting is at a completely different level than it was just ten years ago.

Remember the reason he failed in the NFL and went to Alabama in the first place was due to the media and player personalities. He is a dictator type coach, Lane Kiffen and Steve Sarkasian both jumped ship because of this. He is a good coach to learn under but those butt chewings wear thin. Alabama treats him like a deity because he is great and that is the only source of entertainment down there. The media hardly ever questions him but it is going to become increasingly hard to keep stories from getting out with all the forms of media today.

Imagine being his successor down there.

Alabama will face its down years post Saban. What he has accomplished is truly amazing considering the parity in college athletics.

All players he has recruited to Bama have been on a national championship team. That's a hell of a closing statement when sitting in a potential 4 or 5 star recruits home with son, mom and dad.

Dabo Sweeney will probably take over when Saban leaves...they will be fine!
