So who all has McC reached out to in the portal?
Off the top of my head I recall Santos Silva, Robbins, Rebraca, Ash, Onu and Fox.
Taylor started following Manek, Graves and Brooks on Twitter but I never saw any reported contact from them.

So that's it? Are you sure? Have you checked the other 1400+ players who have been in the portal?Off the top of my head I recall Santos Silva, Robbins, Rebraca, Ash, Onu and Fox.

We would know if Fran reached out to more guys. I am not saying we would know everyone he has contacted but transfers are not shy about posting schools that have contacted them while in the portal.
Nope. But I thought that you didn't have a clue. Thanks for confirming.Reading hard for you?
Nope. But I thought that you didn't have a clue. Thanks for confirming.
It's about you. And you're full of it.It's cute how you are assuming Fran has contacted a bunch more even though that goes against 10+ years of evidence saying otherwise.
You're probably one of those "it wouldn't be fair to recruit over the players already here" guys.
10+ years of evidence? I thought the portal was somewhat new.......It's cute how you are assuming Fran has contacted a bunch more even though that goes against 10+ years of evidence saying otherwise.

Ash won't be playing enough to know. Doh! Better question is can either of the Murray twins guard him? Can Perkins guard him? Can Joe T or Ahron guard him? Eff yes!I wish we had Brockington of PSU coming to Iowa for 2 yrs rather than going to ISU.
Can Ash guard him? Brockington would immediately become our most athletic wing.
Can you break down the B1G schools that were significantly better at it than Iowa pre portal? The portal is.
Transfers have been happening at a pretty high rate for several years prior to the portal.
Can you break down the B1G schools that were significantly better at it than Iowa pre portal?
So, it's been a part of the off-season transfer system for the years of 2019, 2020, and 2021.You are lazy.

Again, isn't it possible that Fran and his staff are simply comfortable with the current roster. They can't just grab a player and say "Hey, you're coming to play for Iowa." The player (a) has to offer something above and beyond what's already on the team (in all regards); and (b) has to have an interest in playing for Iowa.Fran is being left behind. If kids don't want to be recruited over, then get better. Isn't Fran's job supposed to be putting the best team on the floor he can and winning? Worrying about hurting kids feelings because a player he brings in might be better than them shouldn't be a concern. I mean he has no problem playing Connor over guys.
So you can’t answer, got it. Pro tip - when providing links they should support your premise. Your links show that the B1G as a conference wasn’t very active or efficient in getting transfers. My apologies if you put effort into those links, they didn’t show what you were hoping for.Big Ten Conference Transfers Playing and Sitting Out - RealGM

These are all inclusive lists that list walk ons and JUCO's which I don't like to consider actual transfers but here is Fran's list prior to the portal:
Jordan Stoermer
Okey Ukah
Jarrod Uthoff
Trey Dickerson
Dale Jones
Michael Soukup
Steven Soukup

Not according to some posters...(Legend?)Sure they do. Fran got Uthoff and that's it. Technically, by the rules back then, Fran couldn't contact Uthoff so he probably gets half credit.
The original question was to show who in the B1G was significantly better in that time frame. Your links don’t show that. The B1G was late to the party on this.Sure they do. if no contact was allowed at the time any of those programs get half credit as well.
This is where I'm at with Iowa athletics outside of wrestling and I'm by no means a wrestling fan. I like watching them knowing they can compete against anyone anywhere. Apathy has set in. Watch the prime match ups for football and basketball, maybe, and wait to see what mid tier bowl the football team makes it to for the bowl party. Maybe it's my middle 30's, maybe it's new home ownership, it is probably a combination of things but I've watched the same movie for 20+ years in football and 10+ years in basketball. That time, energy, and money can be used to improve myself, my marriage, or my home. Iowa athletics, for the revenue generating sports, is eating the same bowl of vanilla ice creamevery Saturday and pretending to be excited about it.lol. Really? It’s a big world filled with wonder. Plenty of better things to do than watch Fran’s sons develop (or not).
Ice climbing. Ice fishing. Winter camping. XC skiiing. Downhill skiing..... Hell staying in and watching Lifetime movies is better than that.
Iowa has been to two Orange Bowls and one Rose Bowl in the last 20 years. While I would like to see Iowa I’m more bowls of this caliber, I do not personally consider those to be mid tier bowls. I do agree that the other things that youThis is where I'm at with Iowa athletics outside of wrestling and I'm by no means a wrestling fan. Well said.Iowa athletics, for the revenue generating sports, is eating the same bowl of vanilla ice creamevery Saturday and pretending to be excited about it.
The most recent one of those happened 6 years ago and we got destroyed. The other two happened more than a decade ago. mention (self, marriage and home) should be a higher priority in your life over any sports team though.

1 win. 1 win in 20 plus years. You sure got me there, Good job.I do know Iowa’s bowl history. I am not the one who said Iowa has only been in mid tier bowls for the last 20 years. You exaggerated so I called you on it.
It's okay to answer with 'I don't know' or 'nobody in the B1G was very good at it' or 'Fran was following the same protocol as the other B1G coaches'.......but I have the feeling you will stick with your '11 years of evidence' which isn't accurate. It was the intra conference transfer rules that stipulated the no contact along with schools being able to block kids from transferring to certain schools before the portal.
1 win. 1 win in 20 plus years. You sure got me there, Good job.
“Moving the goalposts”. LOLThank you. Your original post was in regards to a Iowa not making top tier bowls in the last 20 years, not bowl wins. Way to move the goal posts to make yourself feel better!

Let me interpret it for you since u SLOW AF. Fran didn’t pursue a guard like Marcus Carr or others in the portal because he knows Connor wouldnt see the court or that Perkins might get mad at him. To waste a scholarship on a walk-on instead of helping this young team is a Lazy a$$ bit&@ move by Fran. He is very content just to make the tourney and knows he ain’t going no where with the contract extension. What a Stupid BS move after people were already pissed with the embarrassing Oregon loss and CJ’s departure. We needed some serious help at the guard position; someone who is a slasher and can defend. But apparently Fran thinks short/slow Bohannon and mr. mop-up duty can fill the void. Perkins has potential but he is young and inexperienced. Clearly some players have lost trust and confidence in Fran’s decision-making, nepotism, and blind loyalty.
You are part of the problem.
Be careful with this level of logic! So, it's been a part of the off-season transfer system for the years of 2019, 2020, and 2021.
I still don't understand why some cannot fathom that Fran and his staff are simply comfortable with the current roster. They can't simply grab a player and say "Hey, you're coming to play for Iowa." The player (a) has to offer something above and beyond what's already on the team (in all regards); and (b) has to have an interest in playing for Iowa.
Isn't it possible that Iowa did in fact reach out to some players who met criterion (a), but not (b)? Or there were players with an interest in Iowa who did not offer anything more than the players currently on the team?
p.s. the above was not meant for you @BBHawk, but a general statement to those saying that Fran has failed in his utilization of the transfer portal.
The problem that our program is in the horse latitudes because everytime anyone suggest change references from the way back machine such as:Which problem is that? I have no issue with you wanting the Hawkeyes to do better. I believe that is something that everyone on this board would like. It just comes down to how we react to losses and not exaggerating to try and make a point.
The legend of Tom Davis grows yearly. He was an average coach who did better with players he did not recruit. Yes he was let go in a poor manner. He was also too lazy to recruit Raef LaFrentz despite being tipped off early. So if you want to use his name as a source of contention with Iowa basketball, get over it. You sound like a Bears fan living off the 1985 Bears team! The problem that our program is in the horse latitudes because everytime anyone suggest change references from the way back machine such as:
Dr. Tom Davis getting fired.
Significant bowls a decade ago
Lickliter being terrible
That period from 60 to 40 years ago our football team sucked.
Gets brought up as a way of not changing the current situation. Here is some perspective for you, the children that were conceived the night LJ Scott pushed through Josey Jewell on the one yard line to kill the chance KF had of finally winning an outright CONFERENCE title are going into First grade this year.
To quote the 90s shitty movie Encino man, "the cheese is old and moldy, where is the bathroom?".
