This is a curious story as both investments by GS are completely insignificant in size for him. Soros is just as full of shit as anyone. He is a capitalist at heart.

I have wondered for about the last year what will happen to the coal assets in this country. The last several cyucles saw some bankruptcies and then the sector came back, restructured and flourished. There is a lot of talk now that maybe they will never come back as the fuel is simply too expensive given where natural gas is now and will be for the foreseeable future.

I would bet that the mines will be bought up again but with oil and gas prices falling there is no huge rush to do anything.

Why will coal stocks soar? They are down a bunch this year. If BHO plans continue there will downward pressure the rest of the year also
