Quite a few people said there was no reason for him to be jailed, that it served no good purpose.

I'm not sure why we have sentences when nobody ever seems to serve them. If anything, the rule should be having to serve a full sentence when someone takes a life.

Almost no one serves a full sentence in Minnesota. They automatically get 1/3 off for good behavior while incarcerated.
 
His charge was reduced to manslaughter, and he served that sentence. Granted, it was on the short side, but he did the time.
 
True justice would be him calling 911 only to be shot and killed by the responding officer.
