This is the big one, and the scary one IMO. Illinois has beaten Michigan THREE times this year. Also have taken a game from Maryland, Nebraska, Ohio State. They also lost a series to NW, lost a game to Minnesota, lost twice to Purdue. So they are definition of Jekyll/Hyde to me.

Offensively and defensively they rank among the top in the conference.

Pitching is where it can get hairy. As a team they sport a 7.15 ERA, 1.65 WHIP. Their Friday starter is Andrew Hoffman, and he is going to be a problem. He has a 3.27 ERA, .98 WHIP, and sports 51K to 10BB. He is coming off a game against Maryland where he threw 7.2 innings, 3H, 12Ks, and no runs. Only gave up one free base via a HBP. Lavender is also a guy in their rotation capable of giving them a quality start.

Minnesota is out this weekend due to COVID. They were supposed to play in a pod at Happy Valley with Penn State and Rutgers. I assume PSU and Rutgers will just play a four-game series against one another now.

Is Northwestern back?

Its crazy that Northwestern has "postponed" 7 straight games

2 vs Michigan
2 vs Illinois
3 vs Purdue

Luckily, Michigan & Illinois were in Evanston for their pod, so Michigan and Illinois were able to play each other 4 times. Michigan & Illinois split the 4 game series, by the way, which tells you how dangerous Illinois can be.

The Northwestern website still lists the May 14-16 series AT Nebraska as a go.

Interesting tidbit, Illinois won both of the 7 inning games.

The Hawkeyes will honor 13 seniors as well as 10 managers in a pregame ceremony. The Iowa players are: Zeb Adreon, Cam Baumann, Jack Dreyer, Izaya Fullard, Jack Guzek, Trace Hoffman, Adam Ketelsen, Hunter Lee, Grant Leonard, Ben Norman, Ben Probst, Austin Martin, and Matthew Sosa.

I know Dreyer, Probst and Fullard could come back if they wanted to, does this mean they are planning on signing if/when they get drafted?

You never know how these things will work out. It’s a wait and see at this point. Dreyer is stil rehabbing, I would think he’d be back but who knows? Baumann is a RS Jr eligibility wise, but this tells me he is gone? I was hoping he’d come back.

I’m pretty sure every one of them that wasn’t a senior last year can return. Trenton Wallace graduated as well, so he should be included on the list should he not?

He could, but since he’s been talked about as possibly working himself into the top ten rounds of the draft since the season started I have assumed he will be gone.
