If we would somehow win 4 straight games we are B1G Tournament Champions and will advance to the NCAA Tournament.

In the preseason, D1 Baseball considered Brody, Cade & Marcus Top 150 pitchers. All 3 are capable of winning the first 3 games. And then bring Brody back to start on Sunday?

Twice in conference play Iowa won 3 games in a row. We won 4 games in a row one time (vs Neb, where Brody got the start, followed by 3 straight wins vs Northwestern). Can they do it a 2nd time?

7 Seed fOSU and 3 Seed IU advance. Someone explain the bracket please. Not a true double elimination, win 4 straight and head to the NCAA's? Lose your first game you can still win the tourney, but lose your 2nd game and you get a consy game?

Someone correct me if I am wrong but:

* If Iowa wins 4 straight they head to the NCAA Tournament.

* There's an upper bracket (Indiana Purdue, Nebraska, Ohio State) & a lower bracket (Illinois, Penn State, Iowa, Michigan). It's double elimination in both brackets. Then the winners of each bracket play ONE GAME on Sunday for the B1G Championship.

In baseball, as we know, anything can happen. @Alum-Ni can't be happy with yesterday's result; with more more loss the Huskers are done.

Huskers laid a big egg yesterday.....but partially because they are "playing it safe". They didn't throw their ace, opting instead to throw a bunch of the midweek guys that have struggled all year. They know they are already in the NCAAs, so they are resting their better arms and some of their other better players in the lineup for a game or two.

Thanks Franny...this tourney is always a bit odd..those in regional not throwing their big arms much and resting guys and everyone else throwing kitchen sink at the tourney trying to punch ticket to regional.
Certainly Illinois losing if Iowa wins is very interesting.

Brecht laboring in the 6th. Bases loaded and nobody out for Michigan, but Hawks still cling to a 1-0 lead.

Offense continues to be dog sh**.

Bottom 6th, with Iowa leading 1-0, Michigan loads the bases with nobody out (Brody hit the 1st batter; the 2nd batter singled; the 3rd batter walked). Brody was only at 79 pitches. After a mound visit, Brody stays in the game.

The next batter flies to left; the runner on 3rd does not attempt to score (was a perfect throw to home).

The next batter struck out for the 2nd out.

A wild pitch and a throwing error by the catcher to home plate (Brody covering) allowed 2 Michigan runs to score.

The next batter grounded out.

After 6 completed innings, Michigan leads 2-1.

Brody has thrown 91 pitches so far.

Here's the 2 Michigan runs being scored:

In the bottom of the 8th inning, Brody got the 1st batter to ground out. The 2nd batter hit an infield single to short. With 1 out & a runner on 1st and a 2-2 ball game, Heller went to the bullpen & brought in Jack Young. The runner on 1st base got thrown out attempting to steal. The next batter struck out. After 8 complete innings, the game remained tied at 2-2.

Brody's line:
7 1/3 inning pitched
32 batters faced
113 pitches (72 strikes, 41 balls)

4 Hits allowed
2 walks
4 Hit batters
1 Wild pitch
0 Balks

10 strike outs

1 earned run (of the 2)

.82 WHIP for this game (2 walks + 4 hits / 7.33 inning pitched). In the Major Leagues, the average WHIP is around 1.30.

In 15 starts and 78.33 innings pitched:

1.21 WHIP for the season
(49 walks + 46 hits / 78.33 innings pitched). In the Major Leagues, the average WHIP is around 1.30.

3.33 ERA for the season
