***Official Josh Jackson Appreciation Thread***

He is as good defending the pass as we've had in recent memory. His NFL career won't include the return game. I like to see him wrap up a bit more frequently.

He has been a stud all year. He can still take the next step and start making more plays on the ball for ints. He seems to always be in good position.

His NFL career doesn't need to include the return game. He has lockdown potential. No, I think he will stick around one more year, but he is awesome.

A lot easier to make a thread with this title since he was relieved of his punt return duties.:)

But, yeah, great corner.

Iowa should put 3 JJs in the NFL in 3 straight years!
I was just saying during the game how much more I miss DK in punt return than I do on D!

I don't know why but I have this feeling if Jackson finishes this season playing at this level he will go pro the young man seems very mature.Reallly understands the game

In the preseason chatter, I predicted he’d blow up this season when I was talking about how many FG he blocked in camp. I still think he has potential to be a good returner as well, but needs work, clearly.

What I find remarkable about his cover skills is that he has incredible timing, or an incredible ability to read the WR (or both) and turn and find the ball at the exact moment he can make a play on it. He also has an incredible ability to hang in the air, or snake his arm through a WR to deflect a pass. Another thing...he knows exactly how much contact he can get away with. Pure talent...I'm sure his coaching has helped, but you can coach til you're blue in the face and you can't make a human being hang in the air like he does. That's a gift and he will be paid handsomely for it in the NFL. Good for him...I'm excited for the young man.

He should come back win the Thorpe award be a consensus all American, and then go pro when his draft stock is higher. He could go from 3rd day to 2nd day for sure putting in another year with us right? Im hoping he stays anyway we'll need senior leadership bad next year.

Could he go pro after this year??

Makes you wonder. He seemed to show good speed running down that Minny guy near goal and he has size and turns to look for the ball. Good for Phil Parker for recognizing his talent--we need more guys like him.

Josh is joining some good company with Hawkeye defensive back standouts.

CB JR Josh Jaxsons @ # 6'1 175 lb 2** and a 20 lb increase brings the heght and wieght to the position and just cause hes not the PR doesnt mean he should be written off

I agree. He good. He gone.
Gotta collect $$$ whereever the iron is hot.
. No team will throw at him next year so his stats will suffer.
I would love for JJ to return, but he needs to capitalize on this opportunity.

Wasn’t it down to just Iowa and Colorado St for him? Another great find for Iowa.

The thing I love is he somehow makes it look almost effortless. He just meets the receiver at the ball every time. If he doesn’t have the pick lined up he knocks it down instead of forcing the play. I saw a post last week of people complaining about this very thing but that’s how the position should be played. If you don’t have a real shot at the pick, knock it down and don’t give the receiver a chance. He’s a shut down corner
