******Official Twins 2019 thread*****

Twins will have the bats to score 6+ a night, they also have to pitching to give up 8+ every night. They did nothing to improve the pitching staff and it's super frustrating.

Yeah, so far so good for the most part need to take care of business at home now.

Your Minnesota Twins are now 9-6 and just 1/2 game out of 1st place after today's win over the Toronto Blue Jays.

Tonight it was wet and chilly at Target Field.

The attendance (tickets sold & distributed) was announced at 11,465, the lowest figure in Target Field's 10-year history, though the actual presence of people was far less than that. The four smallest crowds have come in the last four games.

This was the 44th game delayed by weather since the ballpark opened in 2010.
There have been 24 postponed games, one suspended game continued the following day and one shortened game.

Though the crowd sizes have had more to do with the home team averaging more than 90 losses per season over the past eight years, the attendance was further diminished by this rainy day and 44-degree temperature at first pitch. Including their postponement of the game Friday after a snowstorm, the Twins had a majors-most six days off over the first 20 days of the season. With the lunchtime start looming in the series finale, every effort was going to be made to get this game in.

"We have a lot of months where we have two or three days off over the course of the month. To use those days as added games is something we'd prefer not to do," Manager Baldelli said, adding: "But we will figure it out and whatever we're told we're going to do, we'll make it work. Our guys don't complain very much about anything."

I’m going today. Got 5th row behind the dugout for $16 on vivid seats.. I love these early season cold day games.

Pitcher Michael Pineda should be fully recovered from
his Tommy John surgery in July, 2017. He has the talent
to be a good starting pitcher for the Twins.

Today, the Twins are in first place in the AL Central
with 13 wins and 8 losses. They are overachieving
but who cares.

The Twins beat Houston again today and take 3 of the 4 games from the Astros.

The 1st place (AL Central)Twins are now 19-10 and have the best record in the American League and the 2nd best record in all of baseball (St Louis is #1).

Best bats in the majors. Truly astounding turnaround. Hope they can keep it up, division is there for the taking.
Correct me if I am wrong but Cleveland and Minny are the only 2 teams with a chance to win the AL Central.

However, does Cleveland have enough offense?

And now Cory Kluber looks to be out for a while with a non displaced forearm fracture.

The question is, will the Pohlads make a trade for another legit starter and bullpen help if they are contenders at deadline ?

My guess is they will just be happy with a participation ribbon lime the past half dozen times they had a decent team.

Minnesota Twins: A

Best storyline: Dingers! The Twins homered 49 times in their first 25 games and led the majors in home-run rate and at-bats per home run through Sunday. They look like a lock to beat the franchise record for home runs of 225, set in 1963 -- the longest-standing team home run record. They've taken advantage of a soft schedule -- they're 10-0 against the Orioles, Royals and Tigers -- but that's the path to a division title. Beat up on the weaklings of the AL and hold your own against everyone else.

Mulligan: Everyone applauded the Marwin Gonzalez signing, but he has been helpless at the plate. Miguel Sano isn't expected to return until late May, but Gonzalez's struggles have opened the door for Sano to get a chance at third base.

Funny story on Pohlad. He and his wife went on a cruise with another couple years ago and now Pohlad is married to his friends wife after hitting it off on the cruise.

We will learn a lot about the Twins this weekend as they travel to the Bronx.

Tomorrow (Friday night), Twins RHP Kyle Gibson (2-0, 4.88 ERA) takes his turn to start a three-game series in New York against the Yankees, who send LHP James Paxton (3-2, 3.38 ERA) to the mound. Gibson is 1-5 with a 6.86 ERA in eight starts against the Yankees.

Since 2002, including the postseason, the Twins are 14-50 (.219) on the road against the Yankees.

With the Yankees AAA lineup on the field... the Twins better win 2 of 3 this weekend. You couldn't ask for a better time to face the Yankees.

Good pitching wins championships...Good pitching
beats good hitting. The AL Central will be won by
the team who has good starting rotation and strong
bullpen. It would be good for MLB if the Twins can
get to the post season this year.

Bottom Line: Former NY Yankee pitcher Michael
Pineda could become the ace of the Twins staff.

I am hoping for 2 of 3 as well.

Can the Twins ignore the past and POUNCE on the present?

We will see!

GO TWINS!
