*****Official Western Michigan (#317 per KenPom) at IOWA (#26 per KenPom) Game Thread. 7:30 pm CT, BTN*****

Mulvey passes him on the depth chart, so unless things change soon either he's buried or recruited over

Mulvey doesn't have the same size, but miles ahead in everything else. At least from what we've seen so far, the light hasn't come on for Josh yet. Afraid he may get buried and transfer. Hopefully he proves different

I think both should play less if not making shots. Jbo is playing better D. Connor plays D, but with Jbo not making shots and Connor not having a shot, it's playing 3 on 5 offensively. I would put a grand on Laketa outscoring Connor in half his minutes.
I hate to pat myself on the back, but Laketa did outscore Connor FYI,

Haha nah I agree with you though. He went like 1-10 from 3 a few nights ago and his defense is usually non-existent.
It's one thing to play defense against backups on bad mid major.

We all know JBO physicaly can't D up big ten guards.

The best he can do is not get killed.

Wasn't Mulvey sick and out the last game? Give these guys a break.

I thought he played well tonight, just pointing out that he was struggling to get up and down the court. That was more than just a few days of being sick.

If it makes you feel any better, Luka had similar issues when he arrived in Iowa City. Look where Fran got him. The future is bright for Mulvey

Agreed. He looks like he has a decent stroke too

Im guessing its a decision he'll regret.

He may never play for Kentucky, Cal will cut him if something better comes along.

I liked CJ, probably my favorite guy last year. I don’t blame him for going to Kentucky either. I wish it would have played out differently or he (and family) handled it differently.

Yeah, I’m sure there’s a lesson in there somewhere for him. I wonder how much he gets from their NIL deals.

Sandfort says, Fredrick who?
As someone has said, Mulvey is not the physical specimen as Ogundele, but he's light years ahead of Josh in basketball skills and it's not even close. If some of you are begging to see JO in games this year you're going to have to wait until it's mop up time or next year. He's just not ready for prime time and may not be for a year or two. He has a long way to go. I'll take Riley, to get minutes in games where beef or height is needed in small amounts but the kid can play and will help Iowa this year....

I'd like to see more Kris as well. I can see him guarding 2-4 and tweener 4/5s. He has a nose for the ball and can board.

CJ was your favorite player last year over Garza? Or Weezy? Or Keegan? Wut?

Let’s wait until we face some solid teams before we anoint Sandfort. The kids got a sweet stroke, but he’s yet to see a shot he doesn’t like.

I’m thinking that he’s got to step up the rest of his game before he’s able to be a plus player this year. Love his confidence, but is he going to shoot it like this in a close game with better defenders? How many will he give up for each shot he knocks down? He may be a fine wine, but he’s got to age a bit IMO.

I would normally agree with you on this BUT Sandfort's release is very quick and high and consistent that I doubt it will matter much who the opponent is. He is going to be a good one.
